I am SO frustrated! Our cat got locked in out room and my husband and I had left for work. She was locked for 9+ hours and peed in our bed. We got in bed and I smelled urine. So I started moving the covers around and sure enough she had peed a HUGE spot which soaked through all our blankets, sheets, and mattress cover leaving the mattress soaked. I washed all of our bedding in bleach/detergent and the smell came out of them. We couldn’t “fliip” the mattress because it’s a pillow top. Well.. The clean sheets and all our bedding stink no matter what I do because the smell rises from the mattress. I am so upset with this and DO NOT know what to do. I dont even want to get in our bed because the smell makes me sick (Im 20 weeks pregnant). We spent $ 1000 on this mattress for my husband when he had back surgery and the mattress is not even a year old. HELP!!!!!

I have found the Resolve Pet Formula (grocery store) works pretty well for urine stains/smell. But you will have to really soak the spot so the liquid gets down to the bottom of the stain.
There is also a product sold in pet stores called “Nature’s Miracle” that works well but it didn’t find it to work as well on foam rubber as the Resolve did.

borrow or rent a steam cleaner to clean the mattress. for an interm fix get a piece of poly sheeting or a heavy duty garbage bag [at least 3 mil thick] and some industrial tape to seal the area that should help the smell and keep the laundry items from absorbing odor. seal the entire premeter of poly/bag

I just discovered that my altered adult male cat must have apparently urinated on our goose down comforter sometime this winter. It is only on one spot where he normally sleeps.
I checked with the cleaners and they informed me that dry cleaning will not remove the oder.
Does anybody have any old fashioned remedies for removing the smell? It can be washed in the washing machine. Should I add baking soda? Or something else? Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

vinagar sometimes works to remove cat urine odor. Pour about a cup in the wash.
