Faced with the prospect of stripping wallpaper, most people get discouraged – unnecessary. After 20 years in home repair, I can share some tips on how to easily strip vinyl wallpaper and efficiently – and keep smiling.

The secret of stripping wallpaper is in the proper use of water, patience and a good scraper.

First, you must peel off the top protective layer to reveal to the backing paper under. I would recommend lifting the bottom corner and carefully peel the paper slowly, until about 12 “fully flutter have. Patience and a steady hand and the well-soaked paper dissolves very easily. There is no reason (not excuse) for gouging the surface with a scraper.

If it too difficult to strip – more water can do the work.

Steam strippers – No! I have childhood memories of my parents fighting with steam strippers, filling the house with condensation, burns and her hands literally blows cracks in the plaster by the steam-table in one place for too long! I can not remember any place for a steam-stripper in a decorator and tools. Slashing the top layer of vinyl paper with a knife – no! Professionals make mistakes, such as blow the top layer with a knife is supposed to make the water penetrate into the surface of paper.
