Question : How can I “self repair” a somewhat HUGE rip in my outdoor patio awning?
Awning is made of heavy fabric.
Rip is probably 12-14 inches long.
It’s a “clean cut”, so thought maybe some sort of heavy glue.?

See if you can get a swatch of fabric from an upholstery shop (or an awning shop if there’s one in your area) that matches. Sear the edges to seal them, then either sew it on or use heavy-duty fabric glue.

Of course, duct tape is always an option if the aesthetics don’t bother you.

Question : Question about burglar alarms, since they call your house when an alarm is received isnt it somewhat worthless?
I mean, you’ve probably seen the commercials, where they call your house and say “is everything okay?” when your burglar alarm goes off, so if someone breaks into your house, and the phone rings, couldnt they just.

A. Put a gun to your head and say “Tell them everything is okay”

or
B. answer the phone themselves and say “Yeah this is MR. so and so, no false alarm, everything is ok here”

So wouldnt that make it inneffective, the phone call i mean?

I know a guy that has one. If he doesn’t turn the alarm off within 10 seconds, the alarm company receives the alert and immeidiatly dispatch the police BEFORE calling. Then when they call your house, if someone says everything is okay, then they will ask for your pin number to confirm you are the owner of the system and not a burglar. Then they recall the police if everything turns out to be okay. If someone put a gun to your head and said “tell them everything is okay” then you could just give the person the wrong pin number then they would know somethings not right.

Besides, most people would head for the hills as soon as they hear the alarm, there’s no reason for them to stay there knowing the police are on the way.

I am considering purchasing an espresso machine for my dorm room next year, so my dorm room. My college’s Coffee Shop is disgusting. Folgers you use pre-ground for espresso, among many other things. I have a barista for two years and know the difference between a really good coffee and a milk that tastes like mud, so the quality is wichtig.Was me is a good, relatively inexpensive (less than $ 300) espresso machine with a steaming wand that I could buy?
