I bought these really expensive sheets since these are the sheets used at many luxury hotels like the Four Seasons and the Peninsula. I bought the same sheets and they feel worse than crappy polyester sheets. Starchy and hard. I tried washing them a few times but still not what I thought I was getting for about $ 450. They are percale cotton and I heard it takes a while to soften, but am I doing something wrong in the wash? Or does the emperor have no clothes and these sheets are actually pretty crappy? Help!

sheet softness and luxury go by thread count and flannel ot satin or even egyptian cotton in high count is softer out of the box Flax linen needs to be washed to remove the sizing and break down the edges of the threads a little to soften the surface also rinse in cup vinegar or baking soda instead of softener it adds chemicals not fluffyness

They are 100% cotton, so they should be soft, but they are 200 thread count and percale so they will not have that satin feel. But they should be nice and smooth feeling. Pima cotton or Egyptian cotton would be softer, but cost a fortune.

Question : How to make a firm mattress soft?
I was originally going to get a soft mattress but my mom canceled it because when I wanted a different headboard, she thought I meant the mattress too. Now, I’m stuck with a firm, because it was the softest thing I could find in the same price range. Since, I got it a few months ago, I can’t get a new one. How can I make it softer so I can sleep at night?

Jump on it; it sounds stupid, but it will give the springs a work-out and help them loosen up. Also, layering blankets on top of the mattress will help.
