Question : How is the best way to clean a whole bottle worth of pet shampoo out of carpet?
I have a 3yr old who wanted to give the kitty a bath in her 2yr old brothers room & dumped a 12oz bottle of cat shampoo over the cat. Needless to say the cat is clean enough to eat off of(eeew!) but the carpet shampoo machine I have cautions against useing it to clean foaming products. So again I ask!

Wow, that’s a lot of soap….. i would use vinegar to cut the soap and just keep extracting from the carpet….. it will have to be done over and over and over…. what a mess!

I have a bad problem with water and mud damage and can’t afford to hire a carpet cleaner—it will need a lot of work. if i had my own equipment I could keep working on the stains, etc. Doesn’t have to be new…second-hand equipmnt okay as long as it does the job,,,in sacramento. ca

I just got a carpet cleaning machine and did it myself, i got it from ace hardware. Idk if they have those in cali though! most hardware places will rent them to you. call around!

I have a Bissell steam cleaner and use quality carpet shampoo. I also pre-treat. It looks clean right after shampooing, but within a week or so, it looks worse and worse! I have Dupont Stainmaster carpet – top of the line stuff.

Question : Shampoo or rip up carpets and take a chance with the hardwood floors?
If I don’t technically have a ton of money to spend, would it be a better idea to just shampoo the carpets and wait until I do have more money, or would it be worth it to spend the money and rip up the carpets and refurbish the hardwood floors underneath?

How expensive is this job? How long does it take? I am so SICK of the carpet maintenance but I am worried I will run out of funds before my project is finished. WWYD?

Refurbishing hardwood floors is a nightmare! Very time consuming, and ultimately disappointing.
If you live upstairs from anyone, they’ll hate you for the noise, and if you have friends round, they can’t sit on the floor cos it’s hard.
It’s also cold in the morning…Don’t do it!

The Kirby company offered me a free carpet shampoo for participating in their survey. They told me they were doing presentations of their new technology in my neighborhood and they asked if I would like a free carpet shampoo in exchange for my opinions on the new technology. I plan to take advantage of the free carpet shampoo, but not buy the product, eventhough they claim they aren’t selling anything or that they don’t expect a sale. They are doing it for the advertsing. If you were offered the same pitch, would you take it? Why or why not?

Been there, done it, got the t shirt. The deep cleaning is just vacuuming the piece of furniture of your choice. The shampooing is showing you how powerful the machine is and how easy it is to do. They don’t do the whole carpet especially without vacuuming first. They really need to sell the machine. For me it isn’t worth the hassle of scheduling a day when my spouse is home at the same time and listening for 3 hours about the machine with only half the carpet cleaned.
With your spouse being home there is a 60% chance of one of two saying they need it and insisting upon it. It has happen with me 3 times. My husband wanted the machine (kirby, and now we have a filter queen as well) I didn’t want them since I already had a rainbow. We have bare floor with only throw rugs here and there. Don’t need another vacuum. Yeah, don’t do it with a spouse.
