Question : How do you let people know about wedding registries?
I know you are not supposed to mention anything on the invitation. Would it be okay to include a separate notecard that asks guests to contact the maid of honor if they have questions about hotel & travel accomodations, gift registries or any other general questions?

No, don’t include anything or send out a notice. People aren’t stupid- they know who to call and ask, word gets around.

These days I have noticed almost everybody sends a little note with a registry on it along with their wedding invitations. Do you think this is rude? Is it tacky or classy?

I’m doing the same, I don’t feel that it is tacky.
edit:: I’m using a registry, not sending them with invites.

We already own a home and have “things”. What are some random things you would request?

That’s my problem. My fiance and I already live together too, and have our necessities. I thought that registeries are for anything you NEED, but I know people putting frivilous things like camping gear, coolers, a Huge 200.00 george grill… I just don’t want to make my guests pay for my indulgences.
and though I’ve thought of not doing one at all, I’m still getting bombarded with questions of what we want and need…
I guess you could always use some photo albums because of your wedding pics ^_^
I just thought of scrapbook gear too, or maybe something like frames to put your picutes, garters and invitations in for keepsakes

Question : When do you start filling out your wedding registries?
We are getting married October 2010. When do you start doing your registries. Some places you can get like planning books and other things. When is a good time to start?

i would say do it in june 2010…. unless your shower is sooner… but you dont want to do it any sooner than that bc seasons change so stuff you like might not be there anymore.

Question : What do you think of wedding registries?
I have always been firmly opposed to gift registries. To me, it seems tacky and greedy. Yes, everyone knows you get gifts at your wedding, but it should not be expected and I have always thought it is not appropriate for a couple to pick out their presents. However, now that I am engaged, everyone is telling me that it is so much easier for the guests to have a registry and that it will save me the trouble of having twelve toasters. What do you think…good or bad?
*i know that if you do have a registry, it is not something that you broadcast, but simply tell people if they ask.

I think they are a great thing…when a couple gets married most of the time they dont have anything to start their new life with…so a registry lets others know what they need, and if someone else has already gotten them that item. Just because you register does not mean someone will get you a gift…I guess I dont think it insinuates that at all…its just for those who do want to get them, and have no idea….But the registry is great for not ending up with 12 toasters…and I dont think you will have to worry about your guests thinking its tacky at all…i guess that has never crossed my mind when it came to one…

if you shouldn’t send your registry information with your wedding invitation how or when should you send it?

what is the ettiquette when it comes to buying wedding gifts from registeries (if any). When should i starting buying the gifts? how much should i spend? Can i get them something else other than what’s on the registries? Those the couple know how much i spent on what???

registries are of course from different stores, different prices, buy accordingly to your budget and based on the relationship with the bride and groom
