Chapter One
The small mobile house on 3 Yucca Street was a bit of an eye sore. Its homely gray paint was chipping along side the cracked windows. Tiles from the roof littered the weeds below. The warped wood porch sank to the ground next to a sign baring the words “FOR SALE”. The young girl who lived in this unpleasant house was perched in front of this sign. Her pale pink flats were buried in the dust. Her red hair rippled in the hot breeze as her deep blue eyes focused on the sign as though they were permanently fixed there. She wore a grin that was almost corrupt in a way.
The girl’s starring contest with the sign was broken when she heard a screech similar to a nail on a chalk board. It was her screen door opening. It was merely a metal frame with netting nailed to it.
“Rosalyn? When did you get home?” The lady behind the door starred at Rosalyn with interest. She eyed Rosalyn’s muted green dress, which was draped over pastel purple tights. The lady pulled her head back into the door mumbling something Rosalyn recognized as “Fashion these days…”
“Coming Mother.” Rosalyn sounded less then enthusiastic. She grabbed her school bag from the weed bush in which she dropped it.
Rosalyn walked up her lousy porch. Just as her hand touched the door knob, she felt a sharp pain in her ankle. Her eyes quickly looked down, her foot fell through the porch. “Well, this, this right here, is absolutely splendid!” Of course she didn’t mean this. She lifted her foot out of the newly made hole and proceeded inside.
The inside of the small mobile house 3 Yucca Street was not much better than the outside. The large space that was the living room, kitchen and dining room was the first thing you saw. Too the right was a small hallway with to doors. Rosalyn limped through the first door, which was varnished with posters of guitars and signs such as “Hello Loser”. These signs were posted against Rosalyn’s will.
“You look like bovine finklematter!” a voice yelled as soon as Rosalyn crossed the thresh hold. A girl around 16 years old was in the room. She was wearing dark skinny jeans and a bright yellow tube top. Her hair, like Rosalyn’s, was maroon red. Unlike Rosalyn’s short choppy length of hair, the girls went down to her rib cage.
“Nice observation PBJ” Rosalyn chuckled as she flopped onto her bed, and lie among the pastel colors of her comforter.
“Why must you call me that?” the girl frowned as she sat on the bed in the other corner of the room. Her comforter was bright pink with animal prints. “Well, Penelope is P Belle is B and Jones is J. Shall we review?” Rosalyn smiled at
Penelope, or PBJ as she called her.
“Two more days…two more days”
Rosalyn knew what her sister meant by that. In two days they would be in their new house on the other side of the continent. And they would have their own rooms.
As the sun surrendered into night, exhaustion was present in Rosalyn’s eyes.
Her sister lie in her bed, texting on her phone. The television on the other end of the room was on a cooking channel.
“You should turn that off it’s making me hungry.” Penelope said without detaching her eyes from her cellular phone’s screen.
“We just had dinner.” Rosalyn said hiding the remote behind her pillow.
“Come on put on MTV” came Penelope’s voice.
“You are so cliché American teenager!”
“Your just weird!”
“I am unique, unlike the mindless soul inside of you!”
“WTF is that ‘sposed to mean?”
“Did you just use text talk on me?”
They had their fair share of scrapes.. Which was not fun for their mother. Their mother busted through the door with a choleric expression painted upon her face.
“Stop bickering you two!” The mothers eyes bounced insanely between the two sisters.
“Just go to bed!”
“But it’s only 8:00!” Penelope argued, but her mom ignored and walked away. “Look what you did.”
“Me?” Rosalyn sat up and starred at her sister like she was fatuous.
“Yeah if you were normal…”
“If I were normal I would be an asinine being with no brain of my own, who does what ever everyone else does even if it means selling your soul to the devil! I WOULD BE YOU!” Rosalyn’s rebuttal shot out like bullets aiming plainly for her sisters emotions.
“Just go to bed!” Penelope threw her stuffed animal at Rosalyn but missed by a clear 6 inches. Rosalyn shrugged and collapsed back on her pillow.
Rosalyn’s eyes closed and her mind shut into a deep slumber. She slipped into another world, a dream world. This dream world was so real, too real. She felt the hard cold dirt below her. She smelt the fragrance of the odoriferous pine trees in the air. But where was she? Her eyes opened, and she found herself in a dark forest. Tightly bound pine trees trapped her in a small space. A shuffling sound came from behind her. “Who is there?” Rosalyn jumped to her dreamy feet.
“Friend, Rosalyn Jones, I am a friend.” The voice came from behind a tree, it was hoarse and strained, as though afraid to speak.
“Show yourself… Please.” Rosalyn wa
was circling where she stood. All the feelings she felt, curiosity, anger, peace, none of them were fear. In fact she had a strange feeling of power, a tingly punch of power.
“As you wish Rosalyn Jones.”
The sounds of shuffling pine needles caused Rosalyn to turn toward the source. Large, black hooves came from behind the trees. These hooves supported the strong silver legs of a stallion. Her gaze swung upward, expecting to see the long, graceful neck of a horse. That, how ever, was a false assumption. Rosalyn was astonished, another emotion added to the growing list. Attached to the smoky midriff was the torso of a human, his head sitting upon his broad shoulders He had light, bewildering green eyes. His hypnotizing eyes searched his surroundings and stopped on Rosalyn’s astounded face.
“You, you are a…” Rosalyn stuttered, maybe because she was afraid to offend the beautiful beast, or maybe the words just could not escape her mouth.
“A centaur, yes I am.” the beast
interrupted reassuringly. “My name is Clark ”
“But that, this, it can not be real.” Rosalyn’s thoughts finally poured out.
“Ah, but it can Rosalyn Jones. Certainly more than you can know, dear child” came his wise voice. “Danger stands in your path, Rosalyn Jones.” Clark’s head turned this way and that, as if making sure no one could hear.
“What? What do you mean?” fear was finally added to that long list of emotions. “What kind of danger?”
“Evil, my dearest child, evil” Clark’s reassuring voice began to shake. “An evil that can not be defeated easily, the greatest evil of all.”
“Please elucidate.” Rosalyn was becoming inpatient now, damn emotions.
“The greatest evil lies within, Rosalyn Jones.” Clark took notice to this impatience, but simply went on.
“So I am evil? When did this happen?” said Rosalyn, her head expanding with thoughts and feelings.
Just as Clark opened his mouth to speak, a loud bang shook the ground she stood on. She fell to the ground, it felt as
though a knot was forming in her intestines. Her eyes shut hoping the fear would leave. Then, out of nowhere, the feeling of soft bed sheets and the smell of toasted waffles enchanted her senses. Rosalyn’s eyes opened, and sure enough, she was home. she looked at the clock, it was 6:30 AM.
“Wake up, breakfast is ready.” Penelope jumped on to Rosalyn’s bed.
“What? Who made breakfast?” Rosalyn’s words were slurred a bit. She was trying to decipher reality, which was hard because the only time she ate breakfast was when she got up early enough to make cereal. The fact someone actually made her breakfast was a little unusual.
“Dad, he wanted to start our day off right, I guess. Probably ‘cause he doesn’t want us to have a bad last day at Desert Hills.” Penelope replied, her mouth full of bacon.
“You have terrible grammar.” Rosalyn sat up, her short hair fluffed around like an afro.
“You have terrible hair.” Penelope said trying to pat it down. They smiled at each other and started of
toward the dining room. “what were you dreaming about, anyway?”
“why do you ask?” Rosalyn’s response was quick and loud.
“You flopped around like a fish outa water” Penelope said, a little taken back by her little sisters behavior.
“Oh, did I? Hmm, that’s odd.” Rosalyn said stuffing waffles in her mouth.
When breakfast was finished Rosalyn and Penelope got ready for school. Penelope put on a mini skirt and a skin tight t-shirt that said “YO MAMMA”. Rosalyn draped on a tattered jean skirt over tights that had a pastel pink and muted gold pattern. Her shirt was a mellow gold with lace up sleeves.
“What the hell are you wearing?” Penelope gave a look of disgust when she saw her sisters walk out of the bathroom. “Cute skirt….but tights? Who wears tights?”
“I do.” Rosalyn stated proudly. She grabbed her maroon back pack and headed toward the door. She slipped on her favorite pink flats and proceeded outside, making sure to avoid the hole in the porch. Penelope, however, did not know
of the chasm created by her sisters feet. She fell right through it, snapping the heel of her shoes.
“Crap! My shoes!” she yelled, pushing the detached heel to the rest of the shoes.
“If you didn’t wear nine inch heels this would not have happened.” Rosalyn chuckled as she hopped into their car.
“They are 5 inch!” Penelope snapped. She ran inside and came back out wearing a pair of heels extremely similar to her newly broken ones.
The car ride to their school was always brief. Seven minutes of sand and cacti, then in the middle of the desert stood a large school called “Desert Hills High”.
“See you later!” Their father said, as he drove up to the drop off spot. His brown mustache shook with the words The girls said their goodbyes and headed into the school.
“PENNY!” came a voice once the glass doors opened.
“Sup, guys?” Penelope said jumping into a group of people. It was a blob of laughter and pointless noise.
“Still can not believe she is one of them” Rosalyn said to herse

Should I move out at 16? (please read)?
3Question : Should I move out at 16? (please read)?
Ok. So here is my situation. I’m a 15 year old male, and I’ll be turning 16 in June. My parents moved here to Tomball (a small rural area in Houston), Texas a year ago in June 2009. Now my dad, just because he wants to, wants to go back to Miami, Fl, back to the house we own over there. He wants to leave Texas early June this year, once I finish school. My mom, my sister nor I want to move back. It’s just him, but according to the “pastor” of our church over there, he says we should move back and it was a mistake coming here. We are rented here and the rent is $ 1200 a month. Our house over there is rented for $ 2,000 a month, yet the mortgage is only about $ 1,300, which leaves plenty of money left over for paying property taxes and other expenses. So anyway, he says that we don’t have enough money to continue living here, but it’s mostly because he has turned into a lazy bum watching TV and doing absolutely nothing except watch TV and eat all day. All of this with the excuse of “we can’t make money because we plan to do a bankruptcy and if we make money, the bank will deny it”. We own a cleaning company, which provides services such as Carpet cleaning, upholstery and tile and grout cleaning, and about another million things we do. Hell, we have enough work to be making $ 300,000 a year (not exaggerating) My mom is fed up with him because he doesn’t let her go out and work either. So I was planning to move out once we got to Florida and I had earned money over the summer before school started again and drive directly back to Texas. I have talked it over with my aunt who lives not even a quarter mile away from our house here in Texas, and she and my uncle decided that I can move in with them and my cousin, since they have 3 spare rooms. Anyway, I have about $ 4,000 saved up from a pressure washing part time and count on another $ 2-3,000 from pressure washing during the summer. Here’s the thing, I don’t want to move from Texas to Florida. I have friends, my girlfriend (I’d be devastated, we’ve been going out for a year).and all of my professors absolutely love me (not kidding). I have a car secured which I bought on a bank repo auction for $ 2,000 (2003 Audi). I still have to pay that off. I’ll get my driver’s license once I turn 16. I’ve also talked it over with my mom and she’s not too happy about the idea but understands my motives and is willing to let me leave. I know my dad would have a FIT if I moved out at 16, but here what I say: tough. There’s nothing he can do to stop me….I think. It’s my car, and my gas money which I worked and payed for myself, so he can’t prevent me from leaving, am I right? The only actual expenses outside the regulars you’d expect such as a cell phone bill, groceries and gas money (keeping in mind that I won’t be paying for housing), is my gym membership which runs me about $ 90/month (I have a personal trainer), and my basketball coach (about $ 100/month) Once I have about $ 5,000 secured at least I plan to leave Florida and move back to Texas just in time for when the school year begins. One question I have is that my dad un-enrolled me from this school (he went stated that I won’t be going to it anymore, and they gave him all sorts of paperwork) and enrolled me in the school over in Florida so we don’t have to deal with any of that when we get there. If I were to continue going to this school I’d have to re-enroll, and show proof of residence and everything. Now, I don’t want to get an emancipation or anything, I’d just be living with relatives other than my parents and sister. It’s not like I’m being abused or endangered. My parents love me, and I understand that. I plan to visit them every once in a while, and I plan to move back once I graduate from high school (I’m a sophomore now), since I intend to go to the University of Miami, which my current girlfriend also plans to attend. I (think I) have the money to support myself for a good while, considering the fact that I have no housing costs. I also own my own pressure washing equipment, so I can work. I believe that I am mature and independent enough to go through with this decision. One of the questions I have is: Since I don’t have an emancipation or anything, and my legal parents are living in Florida, would I have any trouble enrolling back into my school with my Uncle or Aunt if they don’t have my custody, and I am only living with them, though no legal documents say so? Also, do you think it’s a good idea that I move? If not, why?
The only reason I mention the amount of money I have is so that people don’t begin yelling at me that I don’t have any means to support myself. Working part time I can make $ 3,000 a month, because I have done it before. I am a straight A student. How am I throwing my life away by trying to stay at the same high school, with my girlfriend? I mention my car because I don’t want anybody telling me that I wouldn’t have any transportation. Once again I ask, how is keeping my girlfriend of 14 months throwing my life away? How is keeping all my Advanced placement and Honors straight A classes in an IB school (look that up), throwing my life away. My school’s test scores prove it. 92% ar at or above grade their grade level. To the school I have to go to, that number drops down to 43%! The school doesn’t even have any honors classes (which looks very good on a college application)….I fail to see our point. And for the record, yes, I want to stick with my “girl”. Prick.

thanks so much, heres my essay:
“Come hungry leave hungrier.”
“Come hungry, leave happy!” Is the quote that ihop stands by. I recently
discovered that it may be “Come hungry, leave hungrier” due to my unpleasant
visit. At ihop I did not enjoy my time at breakfast. The meal, service and
atmosphere could not even compare to Perkins.
While at Ihop, I was very uncomfortable, hence the reason why I had all of
these problems. The atmosphere was not excitable or enjoying. The lights were
turned on way too bright. On top of that the sun was blinding me through the
window. The smell of the restaurant was extremely unappealing. Burnt bacon in
addition to musty old carpet is definitely not a good smell. There were many
other smells lingering down the asile like smoke, and old trash, but I can assure
you the smell in our aisle was the worse. My seat also was not comfortable. My
family and I were seated in the very back of the restaurant behind the swinging
kitchen door. The hostess seated us in one of the tiniest booths available that
had yet to be cleaned off when we sat down. When our waitress arrived to clean
off the table she quickly dusted it off leaving a sticky orange residue. The
atmosphere was not appealing to the costumers because of all the seating
issues, and bright lights. Our waitress was part of the problem also.
The waitress was not accommodating to us during our visit for breakfast.
She was extremely slow with everyone’s service. I had ordered a glass of water
and after twenty minutes of waiting I finally got my water. I also had to ask for
my bill three times before she actually remembered to bring it. She also did not
inform us of any of the specials going on. Such as the discounted pancakes. I wish
I would have known before I ordered my meal. Our waitress on top of being slow,
was also very rude and unprofessional. She answered questions quickly and did
not get to the point. When I asked her “What comes with the noodle soup?” her
reply was simply “I am not sure.” I figured I better not order the noodle soup
because I am better safe than sorry. Half the time she did not even want to come
to our table. She was too busy chatting with a friend the entire time. I was
surprised when she actually remembered to bring our food.
The worst part of the whole morning was when our food arrived.
Everything on my plate had been either over cooked or under cooked. My Mom
had called for the waitress and asked her If we could send our meals back
because of how bad they were prepared. The waitress did a hand gesture to the
manager, and the manager walked over. He simply said there is nothing wrong
with your meals, that’s just how they are supposed to be prepared. But even I
knew raw eggs aren’t supposed to be eaten. So none of us barely even touched
our meals. Even my drink was not right! My orange juice was sour and contained
way too much pulp. My moms water was also grossly mixed with sprite and did
not taste good at all. On the other hand my dad’s milkshake was pretty good.
The last and final let down was my un-cleaned silverware. My fork had
Left over crumbs still sticking to the ends, and the knives were dull and rusty.
They were definitely not something I would want to eat with. We had left without
tipping the waitress and knew we would not be returning. With all the problems
from the manager, the food, and service I realized I won’t be dining out
especially at ihop any more. Besides home cooked meals are always so much
better.

Ok sweetie…first use spell check…I came across a few words that were misspelled. Also IHOP is in all caps regardless of what spell check says in that aspect. You do have a few fragments and example of one is this…The lights were turned on way too bright. On top of that the sun was blinding me through the window. It should read… The lights were turned on way too bright, on top of the sun blinding me through the window. This will make it flow a lot more for you. I hope that was of some help.
