Question : Can you negotiate at mattress firm or mattress giant?
I am looking to buy a mattress and I always hear that you should negotiate on price and not pay more than half of retail. Went to Mattress Firm and Mattress Giant and both of them said they do not negotiate. Is this true?

You can’t shop by brand. If thread count is what you want you will have to search for thread count. All brands carry different counts.

Question : Is there such a thing as firm mattress pads?
I have a pillow top bed. When I first got it, it was amazing. Now it just plain SUCKS! The bed is way too soft. People have suggested I try putting a plywood between my boxspring and mattress, but since I don’t have a boxspring, I don’t think that’d do much for me. I have a platform bed for all who may care. I was hoping I might be able to use a mattress pad of some sort, but people tell me these things are to make a bed softer, not firmer. Am I doomed to sleeping on the floor until I can get enough money to buy a new mattress?

Your avatar name suggests you are perhaps asian. My wife is asian and when we bought our bed several years ago, we needed one that she is accustomed to – very very firm. We went a Chinese owned mattress store for the purchase and it’s been very good. Maybe you’ve already shopped at similar stores. If not, that’s a good starting point for your ‘next’ mattress.

Like the title says, I’m looking for a -firm- latex foam pillow that’s 100% natural and doesn’t have any synthetic latex in it. I’ve looked at a bunch of local retail stores, but they either didn’t have any latex pillows or had ones that were a natural/synthetic blend.
I don’t mind buying online, but I wouldn’t want to pay more than ~$ 100 for a pair. All of the natural latex pillows I’ve seen on the Internet seem to be on the softer side, though.
I understand that it’s man-made…what I’m saying is that I’m looking for something that doesn’t include synthetic latex. Something like this, which only uses natural rubber:

Latex is a man made product. So you will never find one that is natural. Natural is a down pillow.

Question : How to make a firm mattress soft?
I was originally going to get a soft mattress but my mom canceled it because when I wanted a different headboard, she thought I meant the mattress too. Now, I’m stuck with a firm, because it was the softest thing I could find in the same price range. Since, I got it a few months ago, I can’t get a new one. How can I make it softer so I can sleep at night?

Jump on it; it sounds stupid, but it will give the springs a work-out and help them loosen up. Also, layering blankets on top of the mattress will help.
