We had spar varnish put over one of our floors – the same product they use on the decking of ships. My kids used to roller skate over it, and the dogs ran over it, and it always looked perfect…..

I just pulled up the carpeting in my living spaces and the foam underneath the carpet is really ingrained into the wood floor. I tried Minwax hardwood floor cleaner and it really isn’t doing a thing. Anyone know of a heavy duty cleaner for wood floors?

Instead of trying to clean the floor your better of hiring a floor sander from your local tool hire shop which are around £20 a day or £40 a week, and then varnish or stain to your desired choice.
It will look like a new floor but if you do hire one remember to read the instruction and go around the floor with a blunt scraper and check for any proud nails/screws.
