Question : GE Portable Room Air Conditioner is not cooling properly and drain bucket continues to fill every 2 hrs.?
I just bought a GE Portable Room Air Conditioner 8000 BTU’s yesterday at Sam’s. I am using it in an upstairs bedroom that is hotter than any other place in the house. It has been running for over 24 hours and it is STILL HOT!!! It is set on Maximum Cooling (High Cool & 61 degrees) I have to empty the fill bucket about every 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. It does have a drain port with a hose that I decided to put in a 5 gallon bucket for the water to drain into. It still has not drained into the bucket. Does the fill bucket have to be full first before it goes into the bucket?? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cool this room???? I just can’t believe it hasn’t cooled down any!! HELP!!!!

it sure sounds like you got a defective ac. I would exchange it for a new one. Sam’s is pretty good about returns

It is the pvc pipe in which the dishwasher and sink drain out to. It seems to be clogged with stuff that did not get ground up enough from the garbage disposal. Any suggestions or do I need to call a plumber? Can I use extra strength Draino? Thanks ahead!

Looking for budgetary cost of a toilet drain installed in cement 18 inches from the drain line leaving the house. The house is 2 years old, the plumbing is all PVC and the entire area is accessible(no walls installed yet). This is in the basement but the elevation is 6 feet above the septic tank so I don’t need pumps or anything like that. Just need the cement hammered up, and a drain cut into the pipe.

You’ll need a vent pipe as well a toilet connection. Without the vent, the water in the trap of your toilet will get sucked out, allowing gases in the septic tank to escape into your basement. The vent pipe should go all the way up through your roof, which may be a big problem. Perhaps you could tie it in to another vent pipe in the house, but this may require breaking into the drywall to make the connection. Also, underground pipes are not always where you think they are, and so the plumber will need to run a probe down the drain to locate the pipe.
You are perhaps looking at two men for 3-4 days, which includes cutting the concrete, breaking it out, installing the closet bend (toilet connection) and vent pipe, and patching the concrete and drywall. Around $ 4000, including materials. It might be a little bit more if you want the plumber to run a water pipe to the location for the toilet. Be sure to get several bids, and have the bidders spell out exactly what is included in the estimate.

Question : How expensive is it to repair a washer that wont drain?
my girlfriend did a load of laundry and when she took the laundry out she discovered it hadn’t drained. I’m really pissed off cause I just bought it 3 months ago and she’s careless and breaks things all the time. is it going to be inexpensive to repair? Its a samsung front load washer.
