What paint color would be better with a dark brown furniture in an office at home?
We have recently bought a house with “unique” taste. I look forward to a room that our office will be home to renovate. It used to be a year old with eight rooms and aqua blue walls and a border trim of dauphin.Je am looking for a traditional / modern-looking, dark brown large leather chair with ottoman, library, office colorful dark. There is lots of dark wood and black leather in the room, and I want to pull up the carpet and lay very dark, thick wood floor. Other than a colorful carpet with taste, what recommendations would you make to the color of the walls, trim / finish moldings and accent pieces? Reply

I think you should leave the room as a light brown or brown color because the color goes really well with dark-brown color.

Try scrubbing them with a plastic pot scraper – so it won’t scratch – and baking soda.

This is the bedding I ordered:

It is NOT black & white. Yes, it has black & white in it but the majority of it is actually a dark (greyish) silver so I don’t think things like pale yellow & green, or beige would go with it… The silver changes everything.

I’m looking for 2 colors: 1 dark & 1 light

Light color will be used for: base boards, ceiling, window frame, door frames & possibly even a wall.

The walls are all stippled. There is a black ceiling fan & light laminate flooring.

There are some wonderful shades of blue you can use with that silver gray. I would take a sample of it to a paint store and find just the right one if I was you. You really have to put them side by side to get just the right tint. What I am thinking of is a darker bluish teal with a slight silvery hue. You really have to see them together to know what I mean. It is a beautiful combination.

When I paint a coat of light color paint onto the deep green painted exterior window edge of the house, I could still see the deep green color underneith. What is the proper way to do it right?

I don’t want to use the spray paints I see at the stores for wooden furniture.

Also one of the desks is dark mahogany and I would like to paint it to a light color. Do I have to use a lot of layers of paint? Is a glossing coat needed for the cabinets and desks?

If the desk is Real Wood, I wouldn’t paint over it..sand and restain. More value to it. As for cabinets, go chat with a pro at the local Home Depot. They can help you out with all your questions.

Question : will my christmas cactus survive and bloom in my dark storage closet?
I know they require cool temps and long nights to get them to bloom, I don’t have many options in my apartment. I thought I could put it in my storage closet next to my apartment. Is this too cold? I live in Ohio
Thanks! Someone told me to put it in my closet starting Nov 1st, is this wrong? So i’m supposed to take it out during the day so it gets light?

Hey, it’s cold out there! No, I wouldn’t do that. Also you’d have to truck it out there in late afternoon and bring it back inside for sunlight before leaving for work/school. Maybe covering it with a box every evening and keeping it near a cool window will be enough.
