Energy Preserving Tips

0

The world today is headed towards a major energy crisis. The ever-increasing population and high-energy consumption is not helping matters any. Fossil fuel and coal reserves are dwindling rapidly with no sustainable solution to replace them. Energy efficiency and conservation can stall the impending crisis for some more time but it cannot totally end our demand for energy. At this point of time, saving energy is a good idea as it helps the earth and saves you money. Reducing energy consumption is fairly easy and there are numerous ways in which it can be accomplished.

If you look at your daily routine, you can find many things that you can do to save energy.

For starters, you can switch off all the lights and fans, and everything else when they not in use.
We can use sleep features on computers and other equipment when they are not in use. This can be particularly useful in offices.
Take advantage of the daylight by using curtains that allow daylight to penetrate the room.
Keep the dust off lighting fixtures as they too contribute in increasing energy costs.
We can also save a lot of money in energy by using task lighting instead of lighting up the entire room.
Compact fluorescent bulbs can be used instead of incandescent bulbs as they are more energy-efficient than the latter.
If possible, the height of light fixtures can be lowered to increase usable light.

Refrigerator coils must be regularly cleaned to keep the compressor running efficiently.
The temperature of the fridge should be set at 36° to 39° F and freezer at 0° to 5° F.
The freezer should be regularly defrosted as frost build up increases the amount of energy needed to keep the motor running.
Aim to keep your fridge at least three-quarters full to maintain maximum efficiency. A full fridge keeps it from warming up too fast when the door is open, so it won’t have to work as hard to stay cool.
Unplug or recycle that spare refrigerator in the garage if you don’t really need it.
If possible, don’t place the fridge next to the oven or other hot appliances. Also, make sure there’s plenty of ventilation space behind and above it.
Liquids and foods to be stored in the refrigerator should be wrapped as uncovered foods release moisture and make the compressor work harder.
The refrigerator door shouldn’t be opened frequently and when opened shouldn’t be open longer than necessary as cold air will escape.
Also, hot food shouldn’t be put straight into the refrigerator, as it makes the fridge work harder and thus draws more energy.

To save energy, washing machines should be used when there are full loads only.
The quantity of water used should be optimal and timer facility should be used.
Whenever possible, cold water should be used to wash clothes.
If possible, natural drying can be used instead of electric dryers.

Get air conditioner maintenance each year. Make sure your service person checks the condenser coils, the evaporator coils, the blower wheel, the filter, the lubrication and the electrical contacts. Replace worn and dirty equipment for maximum efficiency.

The vents of unoccupied areas should be closed. The water in evaporative condensers should be treated regularly.

Replace air conditioner filters every month for maximum benefits. Dirty filters restrict airflow and can cause the system to run longer, increasing its energy use.

Install re-circulating systems like paddle fans to create air movement.

Keep central air conditioner usage to a minimum, or even turn the unit off, if you plan to go away.

Try increasing your air conditioner temperature. Even 2 degrees higher could mean significant savings, and you’ll probably not notice the difference.
Cracks should be fixed in forced-air heating ducts.
Insulate your home as it reduces the amount of heat that enters your home from outside. Less energy is consumed battling heat in a well insulated house as less energy is conducted in through the walls and ceilings.
In summer, set your thermostat at 78° or higher when the house is occupied and at 85° when vacant as for every degree you increase, the thermostat setting reduces the load on your cooling system.
In winter set your thermostat to 68 degrees F or lower during the day and 55 degrees when you leave the house for more than 4 hours or before you go to bed.
Clean or replace filters on a monthly basis as they increase the airflow and efficiency of air conditioners.
Weather-strip doors and windows. Caulk any holes or cracks in window frames, door frames, pipes and ducts.
You could also use microwave ovens as they use 70% less energy and cook food 75% faster.

These are some simple tips to save energy on a daily basis. Cut back unnecessary energy use. It is an easy way to keep your hard earned money in your pocket.

to choose Dallas Carpet Cleaning Guide Your Carpet Cleaning Company

1 Carpet cleaning equipment and methods – The only type of carpet cleaning, you should leave your house must be the crane hot water extraction (HWE) method. This should really be your first question if the answer is “NO” … Keep your eyes open. Many carpet cleaning companies use this method … Dallas, but not all, so make sure to ask. Shaw and Mohawk, the production to two-thirds of the world’s carpet recommend this method combines …. making it easier for me this without looking like I just recommend the method I recommend our society happens to be used.

Shaw and Mohawk are links at the bottom: />
2. Carpet Cleaning Certification – Many Dallas Carpet has many practical experiences, and unfortunately some of their successes to chance must …..” as in “no real formal training will be fed back into the class, they must how lucky they have not lost any carpet or upholstery . Most of the two certifications are the IICRC and the RIA (formally the ASCR). This certification proves that the company has passed through the courses and tests for the cleaning of carpets, ask to see proof that the company is certified, or visit the website on www.iicrc.org IICRC. This is another situation where the largest carpet manufacturer in the world recommend the same, are what I recommend. In January 2008, Shaw carpet require owners to prove they are IICRC certified cleaner their carpets cleaned to honor the warranty Shaw.

3. Carpet cleaning and pricing – Choosing a Dallas Carpet Cleaner based solely on the price usually track back to you. Not always because of poor quality … but because of the lure. Any clean, that a special .95/room offers you access to clean … literally. It is not a company in the world, keep their doors open as .95/room….it s Charge “is simply not possible. The play of the low price may be taken on the decisions in general, if the consumer equation first question is question number 1 of this article. Company .95/room bait almost never truck smoke extraction systems hot water … it can not afford. Once a consumer starts their IICRC certified cleaning products, equipment, use hot water extraction, they will bait companies in the to refine the equation.

4. Carpet cleaner with insurance and bonding – Make sure to ask whether the company is insured and bonded, almost all say Dallas carpet cleaning company “YES “…. if you’re really nervous …. Request a copy. Note the difference in the general liability insurance and an obligation. The general liability insurance pays if an owner to slip and fall because the carpets were wetter, a link will be payable if the cleaner was to steal something from the house where she worked. Most homeowners are paying on the insurance if the cleaner breaks something in the house, but not all general liability insurance in which event concerned …. sometimes a separate endorsement is required. Here’s another scenario is really kept in mind. Most of our insurance policies carry a deductible of at least 00,00, even though the filter, the approval of the demolition site, the policy will not pay if the cleaner breaks a vase has 0. Check the owner must, “Is this to be cleaner, pay out of pocket if the scenario vase done 0″ to ask how long the cleaning agent in the business, they will pay almost certainly for damages if it has been in business for a long time. My advice … Put all your expensive breakable items in a place where breaking a carpet care technology is not by accident.

5. Your company carpet cleaning – Do ask a little work for the company for references (even ask for references in your area). Make sure the company is not only a member of the BBB, but also has a good record. It Dallas carpet cleaning companies in our region that they are still active surprised their record at the BBB is so bad, it is obvious that all their new customers do not check www.bbb.org.

6. Cleaning staff – ask if the company uses employees or subcontractors. Ask if a uniformed employee appear clean in a company truck letters to your house. Some Dallas carpet cleaning companies that are not really commercial carpet cleaning … they are just marketing companies. They advertise the book of jobs …. and is under an independent carpet cleaner. In this situation the actual company who books the job has little or no control over the contractor in your home if a contractor breaks or steals something in your house, you have little choice.

This is breaking news Dallas bomb plot suspect stayed expired visa but Immigrant advocates say thats ok?

Question : This is breaking news Dallas bomb plot suspect stayed expired visa but Immigrant advocates say thats ok?
WASHINGTON – Like millions of others classified by the government as illegal immigrants, the Jordanian teen accused of plotting to blow up a Dallas office tower last week arrived in the United States legally and stayed long after his visa expired.

Federal immigration officials said Tuesday that Hosam Smadi, 19, arrived on a visitor visa, not a student visa as initially believed, in spring 2007.

The difference is crucial: For foreign students, dropping out of school triggers a report to a central database and, often, a follow-up by immigration authorities. For those who arrive as tourists or workers, it’s almost certain authorities won’t take notice unless they apply for a driver’s license, get pulled over or arrested or call attention to themselves.

Officials in several federal agencies were reluctant to say much more about Smadi on Tuesday, citing the ongoing investigation. It’s unclear when Smadi or his parents obtained the visa – Jordanians can receive visas that expire in five years, so he could have been as young as 11 or 12.

Once a visa-holder arrives with a “B2″ visitor visa – the sort Smadi apparently received – he has six months to seek an extension or leave the United States.

Jordanian authorities say he spent time in detention when he was 14 or so, for a theft his father says he had reported to teach his son a lesson. It’s unclear if U.S. authorities knew about that case, nor whether it would have held up his visa if they did.

However he got here and however long he stayed, Smadi came under scrutiny because, the FBI alleges, he expressed jihadist views on a monitored Web site.

“Unfortunately, a lot of people are coming in for the wrong reasons – to harm Americans or kill Americans, rather than as an innocent tourist,” said Rep. Lamar Smith of San Antonio, the senior Republican on the House Judiciary Committee. “Once you come into the country on a tourist visa, you’ve passed ‘Go.’ People know they’re home free and there’s no effort made to keep track of them.”

In 1996, Smith wrote a bill – signed into law by President Bill Clinton – requiring the federal government to create a system to track both the entry and exit of foreign visitors. Thirteen years later, it’s still a work in progress.

The Homeland Security Department has been building a system called U.S.-VISIT for several years.

The system compares biometric data with security databases, mostly to ensure that a foreigner arriving at a U.S. airport or land crossing isn’t using someone else’s passport. The data is stored. But, since most ports of entry don’t identify departing foreigners, it’s almost useless for tracking how many people – let alone which individuals – stayed longer than they were supposed to.

Officials at Immigration and Customs Enforcement and its parent agency, the Department of Homeland Security, don’t dispute that.

Four of the hijackers involved in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks had overstayed their visas, and that issue has vexed policymakers and informed the nation’s immigration debate for years.

Immigrant advocates agree that relatively little effort is expended to track down people who overstay their visas – though, unlike Smith and others, they say that’s fine. “The government doesn’t monitor computers and say: ‘Aha.’ Quite honestly, we don’t have the resources for that,” said Crystal Williams, executive director of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. “Mostly what you’ll pick up are people who are just trying to earn a living. I would rather see those resources spent on people who really mean us harm.”

Building a House near Dallas Texas, Help?

Question : Building a House near Dallas Texas, Help?
We are going to build a 7 bedroom, 7 full bath, 3 half bath house near Dallas in a town/city called Cedar Hill. What kind of features in a house of this size are expected? We will have 3 fireplaces and one double sided fireplace, a 4-car garage, walkout finished basement and the house will be 7,412 sq ft when it is completed. We live in Idaho right now and don’t know what kind of features are expected in a house of this size in that part of the world. Can anyone help? We plan to have the basics such as tile in the kitchen, dining areas, bathrooms, etc. granite counter tops, central A/C, central Vac, jetted bathtubs and a 20×50 Oasis shaped pool with a spa in the back yard. Are there any other details/features that may help the house be worth more when it is completed? Are there any features I may have missed or something that a lot of houses this size have in the Dallas area? It will be on an acre lot of land as well. I’m not sure if that it enough or too much. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This will be a great help. but you will have millions of choices!

hire a very outspoken contractor to oversee other contractors
but don’t let the other contractor find out he is a contractor
he can report to you and you will sound like a pro!
Example..(your spy contractor spots a code violation) and tells you
you will be able to correct it before they hide it behind the drywall !

Check out the contractors (very well)

think of things like where should the water hose be.
so later you wont be mowing over it
or maybe you want it to reach your car.

Outlets are very important how many do you want and where you want them, it stinks to find out later you moved your bedroom around and the lamp cord now has to be ran off a cord.
or your new speakers for your home theater dont have speaker outlets
so install phone, speaker, electric, dsl, coax outlets in proper places that fit your wants and needs.

Plumbing.
do you want an ice maker ? nows the time to hide the pipe and have connections availble for ice makers, dish washers , laundry, water hoses and maybe a mop bucket faucet.
later it will be expensive if you find out you want a sink installed and drywall has to be removed,

sky lights can save you money in areas
you may want solar panels or an outdoor electrical outlet.

or even yard lights or walkway lights!
this is the time to make the list of what you want and what fits in your budget.

But if you want to be happy in the end
choose your contractors wisely
