countertop type materials for wall fountain?
5Question : countertop type materials for wall fountain?
So I’ve decided to build my own wall fountain similar to these…

…
and after a lot of research of how to do it I’ve got a decent idea for most everything I’ll need to do. But I can’t decide on the material for the back. I’m trying to cut down costs and I like a solid structure rather than using material like tiles which look ok but I feel a more solid or stone look looks a lot better.
Any type of material you can list that you think may work would be great. Help me think outside the box!!! I’m by no means an expert in the subject so any ideas would be great.

Formica, (laminated plastic), like they use on countertops, or, how about any kind of scenery or painting, protected by a piece of glass. Maybe a stained glass window, sealed with resin.
Whatever you make, consider putting that chemical in the water that makes the water glow Aqua when black light is aimed at it. It’s beautiful!
Countertop or vanity for vessel sinks?
1Question : Countertop or vanity for vessel sinks?
It’s going to be quite a while yet, but I’m doing some preliminary planning to eventually build our own house. Hubby’s not being very helpful in all this, so I want to show him actual examples of what I’m talking about so I can get his opinion.
Sooo… right now I’m focusing on the master bathroom.
I want the master bath to be a spa type of area.
When you enter, the first thing you’ll notice is the wonderful tub at the other end of the room. When you walk in, on either side should be a sink. I’m one of those people who likes sleek, simple, and modern. Very contemporary. I have just fallen in love with vessel sinks.
Here’s the problem, everything I’ve seen has either the sink suspended somehow with no storage whatsoever below it or on the tiniest of vanities. All the ones that have more space, have two sinks on them.
I don’t want a sink with barely enough room on the vanity to place things like my hairbrush on, and I most definitely don’t want one that I can’t place anything on. There needs to be things like drawers for storage.
The only thing I can think of is to have it all custom made. And that means running up the price.
I’ve spent two weeks trying to find examples of what I’m looking for and can’t find it anywhere.
Suggestions?
Oh, and if it helps, I want for the toilet to be in its own private room, the shower to have two shower heads without a door, a built in massage table (I’m quite good at it, but find it very frustrating to have to use a bed or the floor. I haven’t been officially trained, but I do know how and have been told many times that I should get my license. I just don’t want to do it for a living), and a door opening into a private garden area. I’d also love to have a heated floor and towel warmers, though I think since the room is already going to be very expensive, those two will be out.
I’m not much for “ornate”. I want a modern bathroom and “ornate” is much more than I’d like.
Thanks pissy. I really like the first countertop/sinks with the seconds vanity/drawers.

Formica Countertop Resurfacing?
2Question : Formica Countertop Resurfacing?
I saw a commercial on HGTV for some sort of eco friendly brush on concrete that you could brush on top of your old formica countertop to give it the look of stone. I did not catch the name and can’t seem to find the product online without the name. If anyone knows of this product (or any similar) that I can just brush on my formica to give it the look of stone without the price that would be great…I have been watching HGTV and of course have not seen the commercial again.

Resurfacing Kitchen Tile Countertop?
0Question : Resurfacing Kitchen Tile Countertop?
Anyone have advice on resurfacing tile countertops with something that will make it look like a solid countertop? I was reading about Permaglaze but we’d rather do it ourselves. Goal is to not have it look like tile, but look like a solid surface.

I saw them use a product that made the countertop look kind of like it was concrete on the HGTV show Decorating Cents. (They do a whole room for under $ 500.)
Here is a link to that episode, I think they give the name of the product.

0For many, the kitchen is the most important room in their house. Most real estate experts and the best way to improve or increase the value of owning a home is the transformation of the kitchen. The four main components of a processing kitchen is usually the location of large units, install new floors, new kitchen cabinets and replace or install a new work plan. Let us concentrate on the last element – the replacement of your current working kitchen with a new material
Of course, it’s more than just running out of the business to a new work plan for your kitchen .. Do you need to first determine how much you want to spend. You should also consider how much time and effort you have in your work plan. Finally, you should seriously consider the style and look of your kitchen. Regardless of the work to plan, install, it is central to any room.
The first type of work schedule, that the mind strives in the kitchen all granite is an innovator. However, there are many table top materials to choose from – and granite is one of them. These days, hopefully remodeling the kitchen, tile, stone, acrylic, concrete, stainless steel and laminate, even wood! GRANITELet’s start with the most popular granite. Granite countertops are the most popular but also more expensive. Why? Besides the beautiful surface of granite is very resistant to scratches and heat. A granite countertop is very hard and take some time. A granite countertop will never increase from the fashion and granite slab installation to the value of the house. The drawbacks? Unlike fresh, granite is a natural stone, and it is porous. A seal is required to prevent stains. An alternative is to use granite tiles in a solid sheet. The cost savings are on the ground. It is important, not the granite as a cutting board, because they can damage the surface (and ruin a knife or two.) Stone
damage Besides granite there are other various stone surfaces that are used, the kitchen counter . Quartz, marble, limestone, soapstone, slate and surfaces have become very popular. Marble is smooth and cool, perfect for food preparations directly on the surface. It is not as durable as granite and requires more sealing maintenance to protect against stains. Slate is very robust and has a unique surface, they are really in a kitchen. How was the slate roofing material, it is not necessary, as sealing for protection, but some caution is still required. Limestone is very porous and spills must be treated quickly to prevent stains. It is a natural product, bad weather, to deepen and darken over time. Natural quartz has a similar slate, but no stains or scratches so easily. Crystal engineering has gained in popularity, but the costs are much more numerous (technical materials are a composite of quartz with epoxy, polymers and small stones or pebbles for a unique look. “)
TILE ceramic tile and porcelain has been popular in the kitchen for decades. It comes in a variety of colors, shapes and designs. The tiles can be as small as one square centimeter and more than six centimeters square. The tiles are durable and also some of the heat and scratch resistant properties such as granite . The porcelain tiles are generally more expensive than tiles, porcelain tiles, but they are more durable and more difficult fired type of tiles. disadvantages of the tile? It can easily chip, more expensive than other laminate and the grout can be a problem. When the tiles together specifies grout between both of them and grout stains can be very simple. It takes a lot more closely, it looks good. Since breaking grout problems, the ability for the tile and chip easily, and the total cost, it is preferable to install a working group professional.
concrete Concrete is not just for sidewalks or driveways. A work plan is pigmented concrete and can be polished to a smooth, shiny surface that looks like natural stone. counter in a factory or on the site can be molded cast. Concrete is very porous and must be regularly sealed, similar to granite, to resist stains. It may have to be in any shape and thickness. The concrete is also heat and scratch. The counter can in a variety of colors and textures. disadvantages are used on concrete? The seal that is required is not the only protection required. The seal must be an all waxed up three months to prevent damage to water and stains, it may require extensive maintenance. They can not be adapted to the concrete surface, no markings. Concrete is also very expensive.
STAINLESS STEEL
A restaurant would probably be the first thing you think when there is a stainless steel kitchen. But there is a reason that are most restaurants use this material. durability, stain-resistant water, low maintenance, choosing a variety of sizes and shapes are some reasons why it is very easy to clean, and a griddle or frying pan on the surface without damaging concern disadvantage -.. … many people do not like the “industrial” may have cut done look very expensive, it can leave marks and it can easily rack It is important to ensure that the surface is not at least 18 steps and 8000-1000 and nickel.
WOOD sometimes Butcher Block Countertops, a wood counter is usually strips of maple or oak, glued together made. But only in work plans hardwood. worktops bamboo are the latest trend! Wood counter material has a warm and beautiful, in a variety of colors and textures. It’s for people who want to be perfect to come to the opposite surface. It can be sanded and returned to the case of deep cuts, scratches or stains. It is easy to install and the prices are reasonable Cons.? The wood is not very difficult and can easily burn, scratch or dent. The wood can warp or black pit near contact with water regularly. And is poetry regularly.
Laminate Formica is the most common name for countertops laminate. It consists of a thin layer of glue, plastic particle board or wood. Plastic laminate countertops are inexpensive, easy, and an endless choice of colors and patterns. It is very stain-resistant plastic and is easily clean. Because it pre-formed, it may be installed for a craftsman. Formica disadvantages? Although these counters are somewhat durable easy, they do not last forever. laminates are not the heat and scratch resistant, but they are impervious to stains. abrasives can dull and the surface. Warping or water spots occur with excessive moisture. The color or pattern can fade with time.
Replace kitchen countertops is only one step in your goal to renovate the kitchen, but it is considered the most important step of many . You can really make a statement about your kitchen and your home with the right choice of countertop materials. Of course, if you really care about the resistance door maintenance, the house is old furniture, flooring, lift equipment and All This is part of the process to increase the value of your property.

How to choose a countertop
0I
mentioned in previous articles, some things you improve your kitchen one step at a time that the budget will allow. I’ve written an article about how to choose a new kitchen faucet, spend a not only the look but the functionality of your kitchen without much money, and improve the various types of sinks to choose means. In the discussion that continues to this day, my struggle against the upper surfaces. I consider myself an expert on this subject, because I’m so old I have lived and experienced all of the latest decisions and some I did not “dry well” as I mentioned, we have returned to the U.S. colonial period when I was a child. OK, if I was not there in days dry and good, but I was the “early American” furniture enthusiasm was at its peak in the 50′s and 60′s and yes my ex-wife and I had a sink pine Authentic southern dry in our dining room . You get a divorce and because they do not know where the kitchen was or what was used because I ever understand what either dry sink doubt. Bitter? Who, me? NAH!
I grew up in an old family home in Atlanta, where I lived the first type of counter, linoleum, and even though I mentioned, I do not in any way advocate use of today. The following are the current forms are often used to surface.
1 linoleum , which was originally developed as a floor covering it somehow his way to the tops of the counters to add color and strength of the old kitchen. The biggest problem was when you put a hot pan to burn badly. In addition, it cuts easily and so is with a cutting board. The good news is that it was cheap. The linoleum is still available and if you are a baby boomer like me, and in the “retro” look, you can explore for the kitsch factor.
2 butcher block was probably the first form of counters are used. Starting with its use in kitchens and butchers, he made his way into the kitchen and utility durable surface. No need for cutting board, if they look dirty and worn that you just cut and it is like new began. The disadvantage of the butcher block that bacteria breed easily and must be kept hygienically clean at all times. It may also be harmful, even a large kitchen.
3 Formica After the Second World War with the advent of the research were plastic laminate top surfaces disadvantages. More often than Formica known. “Formica is a registered trademark for the most commonly used counter, but rolled products by many manufacturers under many names, colors, textures and surfaces. Are Rising surfaces laminated they can be very beautiful, affordable and sustainable. May be the disadvantage, like linoleum , burned and reduced when used without a cutting board. This can be in various ways. after detailed level, or use particle board or plywood. Most of particleboard with a bonding adhesive. Usually the particle board and high contact cement your last good 15 years or more be. The other type of a position where it is at odds with the front edge and backsplash can ride also formed into a bridge in one piece. This leaves roll a clean over the edge and spray, so that no dirt accumulates. This is a very good option for cheap other hardware. I’m sure that’s why laminate is the most popular material for countertops and probably will for a long time and are the simplest form for the do-it-yourselfers to handle.
4th stainless steel is the jump from restaurants to home cooking and especially for the owners, who has more money than sense. Although stainless steel is a nice finish and figurable for every kitchen, it is very expensive and who can tell you a lot of experience with it that it looks good if kept clean, but a major effort is, this must be continued. We have stainless steel appliances in our kitchen and want to paint every day, our old planes again. Stainless shows all fingerprints, spec of dust or grease that comes near him. If it’s really the idea that you have stainless steel kitchen counters in your eyes, use in an area where it would be the most functional and married to a solid surface or haptics stone for the rest of your kitchen.
5 granite is the latest in countertops. I love the unique designs, colors and beauty of pure granite. granite can be extremely sharp break easily, if not be handled properly. That’s where a lot of misinformation about just granite. A supplier of granite of good will to you the advantages of each type of granite are. Some just a nightmare to look good in the kitchen, but, while others stained lightly and should be well sealed per a rule at least once a year. This is great for some people who did not use their kitchens, other than for show. My ex-wife would love the granite for this reason. granite is porous and absorb stains and bacteria, we have connected the farm pays spots and reduce the growth of bacteria. If you clean the area immediately, you eliminate problems with either
7 stone Engineering , this material is almost in the middle of the solid surface and granite. In general, 93% quartz and 7% resin binders, the material is at the heart of a stone. mixtures and formed under a huge push to provide heat to sheets as granite form. It is then treated as a polished granite surface and then distributed to the producers of granite slabs are the same way. There are also newer versions of the same process, fragments used in colored glass to stones. This makes a great “green” surface that is colorful and durable. The advantage of this material on the granite is the consistency and strength of the material. There are no cracks or deformations that can cause a failure. If it does fail, most manufacturers warranty on the material.
8 ceramic tile is the last on my list as far as I’m concerned should be on par with linoleum will be. Of course it is more durable and less expensive than most other options, but it is difficult to clean . Porous joints and subject to staining and bacteria growth and rupture of the tile for some reason it can be a big problem to replace it. I recommend you for ceramic tiles that you keep all the extra stones to decide the rest. If you need to replace a broken window or damaged, the probability of finding that the color and sometimes a reasonable size it is impossible matches. It is easy to project myself, why guess it is still used.
9 preformed concrete is gaining popularity in both kitchens and baths, can concrete surfaces disadvantages an affordable choice for the materials of the stone surface or solid. concrete is durable, transparent and offer a wide variety of colors and virtually any shape and design can be achieved.
I hope this has helped you understand some of your options for countertop surfaces. As with all articles of my blog I welcome your comments and suggestions for improvements and any questions you may in
