Can I use a fluorescent lamp with a fixed ceiling fan / light remote control?
I am installing a ceiling fan Hampton Bay in my garage. The fan has a light kit and comes with a wireless remote control that operates the fan and light. I intend to remove the light kit and attached the wires from the ceiling, neon lights I want to install it near the fan. Since I can not so easily wire a wall switch to operate the new light, without too much bite holes in the drywall, I would use the remote control to operate the light. The remote says: “incandescent.” But if the controller does not return to the light on / off, no dimming, there is no reason why it would not work with fluorescent lighting? Could it damage the controller, or cause other problems? Thanks in advance for trying to see your aide.RĂ©ponse

I don’t think it will damage anything and it should work as long as there is no dimmer. The only problem I can see is the wiring may not be heavy enough in the fan light. A lot of fan lights say 15 watt max or something like that. If it doesn’t work you can always buy Home decor conduit that goes on the outside of the wall and run a wire for a switch off of the wire that feeds the fan to operate your light.
