Good morning; on our bathtub – which is but 4 years old and supposively with higher quality BR fixtures, our tub drain, which is simply a plunger type where you push down and lift up, began to carode quickly – sign of very poor material,. The caroded plunger simply ‘screws’ out and the shaft is I believe 1/2 inch. Home depot had 1/4 and 3/8 sizes. The other question would be how to remove such a base for this type of plunger as it appears to just lay in the drain but held in by what? Thanks,

Do all tub drains install this way? I need to replace mu ugly old one with a new one but don’t want to change the drain pipe, that would be tub removal!

I met the man who makes these and saw him use it very impressive . I bought one and am very glad I did, I replaced a tub drain on a old ball and claw tub I was done in about 15 minutes. I then used it with my impact gun to remove 2 pipe nipples from under the kitchen sink I was done in less than 5 minutes best 75 dollars I ever spent thanks Tim for a grate tool

got a tip from my family handyman magazine, to use a shop vac to suck out all the hair and built up debis from the tub/shower drain before replacing. Does that work? or is their another better method?
