Question : How can I make my own personalized baptism invitations on my home computer?
I am looking for a website that offers free personalized baptism invitation templates or free software that I can download to do this. I am trying to make my kids invitations with their pics on them myself on my home computer.

If you have Word or Publisher, check out Microsoft’s website. Goto the Office site and they have many free templates to download (you can also download them through the software). There are other programs out there. Some are free, some are shareware. You can also go to a local office supply store like Office Max, Staples, or Office Depot and you should be able to find a low cost solution. They have cheap software there that would meet your needs.

I am just a week away from doing the same thing for my daughter! So, I will have to tag your answer and see what people say.

but…

what I was GOING to do is….

I have a beautiful picture I took of her in a church dress, sitting by a fountain. I am think I am going to use her picture as a backdrop, and then just use a layer of vellum on top.
(vellum is a see thru sheet of paper that gives it that cloudy effect).

I am just going to print the words onto the vellum, and then attatched it to the picture with a bow (use a hole punch to make two holes, pull the ribbon thru and tie a bow)

They end up looking really classy and the picture becomes the backdrop/art of the invitation.

(p.s. you can print multiple pictures pretty cheap by using a “kodak easy share machine” and they can be found in Shopko, Albertsons and lots of grocery stores)

I don’t know about free software, but Broderbund’s The Print Shop is ideal for beginners with lots of templates, fonts, art and designs. You can also use your own art and photos.

If your machine has Microsoft Office, I highly recommend Microsoft Publisher. Microsoft’s web site has templates and art available for both Publisher and Word, which will also do quite a lot. I personally prefer Publisher because I feel like I have more control over the design elements.

Any word processing program you have installed on your machine may have templates for invitations. Access the program’s “Help” menu to see what is available.

Also, Avery and some of the other manufacturers of specialty papers have templates available for use with their products.
