How much is an electric fence for dogs?

Question : How much is an electric fence for dogs?
I was wondering how much it would be to install an electric fence for my dog. My yard is 3 acres, but I would not need to fence all of it. Could someone give me an estimate or tell me how much their yard cost to fence it? Thank you!
Please understand I do not mean one that will hurt the dog. Just a invisible fence type that will give a warning when the dog comes too close.

You get what you pay for.
You can buy a couple hundred dollar one, and throw it away in a year because it stopped working, or you can spend a couple thousand on a professionally installed one that has a lifetime warranty and included training.
That’s up to you.

Thousands to install something that does not keep your dog in, only deters it from leaving, and does not protect him from other loose dogs or wild animals. If a dog wants out, they just run off. Spend less, build a fence, buy a chain link kennel or keep the dog in the house where he belongs and take it out on lead for exercise. Why would you use electric shock on a dog? Argh the cruel and lazy!

An electric fence is not cruel (I will never understand why people post about stuff they know nothing about) but it is not effective. They break VERY easily, no matter what brand, and it’s almost impossible to fix one without digging up hundreds of feet of wire- very annoying. They won’t keep most dogs in, either. I have only seen a couple of people who are happy with their electric fence. Most dogs run right through them, even turned on high. Spend the money and get a real fence, it is practically foolproof and adds value to your property.
