Question : Do you have any good tips for the decoration of school lockers?
I am going back to school September 5 and I am tired of looking at the same gray door and messy inside. I come from a very small school with very large lockers (you can comfortably put one person inside) I seem to have a bad habit of shoving my important papers, and pencials and other objects I need on my top shelf, and never find them until the end of the year when we clean out our lockers. Do you have any locker decorating, or orgizonatoin tips that I could use to make finding my stuff easier, and my locker easier to look at?

You could hang one of those faric organizers, you know the ones you can put in your closet at home in there, it will turn it into lots of shevles. Also magnets that hold pictures would be a cute idea. You could hang a calander on the inside of the door. Just some ideas I hope it works out for you!

I have a very large kitchen with white/off white vinyl or linolium (sp?). I have been using Armstrong cleaner for mopping, which works pretty well, but I would also like to find a wax for making the floors shiny and perhaps prolonging another mopping. Any suggestions?

If you want to slip ars over head then make your floor shiny…..I think you would be better off with a clean non shiny floor as it’s safer and easier to upkeep.

Question : What would be a great ceiling fixture for my kitchen?
I just painted my kitchen red and I’m putting up this border called Red and all that Jazz. http://www.usahomefashions.com/redandallthj.html
I’ve always hated the ceiling light over my island and I want to replace it but I don’t know what will look good. The one that’s up now is about four feet long and 18 inches wide. It has a medium oak colored frame and florescent bulbs with a flat shade similar to what you’d find in a drop ceiling. I want something new and cool but I haven’t found anything that seems like it would take the place of this one in size and light output. I am using black and silver accents in the kitchen so those might be good starting points (if I knew where to start!). There is also a ceiling fan in the kitchen/dining area that has an attached light I would like to replace to match the kitchen one, so bonus points for finding something co-ordinating for that one!
Can anyone help me with links or at least give advice about what might look good?
I am open to anything, as long as it doesn’t require a lot of construction. I really would like something decorative, rather than recessed lighting though.
The island is used for food preparation and small appliances when I use them; blender, electric frying pan, crock pot, etc. I need good lighting there though because it’s the only fixture in the actual kitchen aside from a very small bulb over the sink.
Track lights are an option I’ve considered (mostly because I can’t find anything else that looks cool and sits close to the ceiling!) but I’m a bit worried they’ll hang too low, get in the way and not light enough of the kitchen. I do like the funky chandeliers but have the same concerns there.
I found this chandelier, which I really like, but it’s way out of my price range, so if anyone sees anything similar out there, this is the direction I think I’m heading in:

well the first thing i thought of when i saw that wallpaper was ‘chandelier’. i know it sounds weird but u could get a small funky one like these:

anyway, if u change ur mind about wanting a ceiling fixture, recess lights are great because they are bright but you dont even notice theyre there.
EDIT: i had a look at the vintage iron chandelier and it is only 16.5 inches! yes, the cord length is longer but the chandelier doesnt have to hang down, it can just hang straight from the ceiling with the cord stapled or hung from hooks from the ceiling, you know?
EDIT: well if you want crystal chandeliers they r usually going to be fairly expensive. what is your price range, height/width and does it have to be crystal or are there any other preferances ud like??

I have verticals on french doors in my den. To soften the look, I made two stationery panels and put them on either side. This allows me to still open the door and when the verticals are open they are hidden behind the stationery panel.
You could also put a valance up but for anything you do you need to remember that the track for the verticals comes out approx. 6-7 inches, so you would need a rod that has at least that depth.
