ive recently started a summer job cleaning at a local supermarket. the problem is that i have to use a big machine that you push to wet and clean the floor. i used it the other day and i found that i was leaving horrible dirty marks behind where i had used it and you could see where the machine had been. does anyone know what i might be doing wrong? there is nobody that i can ask because the cleaning bosses do not come into the supermarket very often and i am left to get on with it by myself.

Thanks for the answers to my question: “engineered wood floors” or real wood..To provide more info..All over my contract, change order..it just says “Hardwood” I am limited about wood flooring. 1st time buildi experience in building a home. This home is in the $ 300,000 range..so not cheap. If it was layed correctly, and flaws not patched with putty and cover up pens..it probably wood look nice. However mind doesn’t. I added an additional room to have “hardwood” on a change order. I paid $ 755.00 after a credit was given for the original ceramic tile that was in the home plans..The room is 12×14. Did I pay for “engineered wood” or hardwood” I have no idea. This floor is Mannington Heartland Oak, color is nutmeg, 3/8″ ply glued tongue and groove. Prior to closing i had a flood damage..The builder pulled up a large area of my flooring and replace it..It looks terrible..They have since been out here 8x to attempt to repair/replace selective boards. Agreed to rep. Wood is now discontinued

for 300 k ( depending on where you live ) no builder is going to give you real nail down wood floors, they willgive you glue down wood floors. but you hope ( and don’t count on it ) for a good installer. on a a glue down, about 1/8″ of the top layer is real hardwood, the rest is a usally a hardwood ply wood. you paid $ 4.50 a square foot for that 12×14 room, about right for a glue down ( 755.00 divided by 168 square feet ). too bad you dealing with inexperienced installers, hence you problems.
for a nail down floor you substrate must be 3/4″ to 1″ plywood to which the solid 3/.4 hardwood is nailed down to the subfloor, from there you fill in the small voids, the flush sand, then stain ( option here ) then clear coat. these type of floor go for much more than 4.50 a square you payed for, due to raw material cost plus labor.
