Question : Do HVAC contractors give you a discount if you give them your old central air unit for a new one?
I have a new construction home with a new 2.5 ton central unit but it’s undersized and I need to upgrade. How does that work? Do I have to pay for a whole new unit or can they upgrade the current one for a lesser price or maybe give me a discount if they keep my old one. It’s bascially brand new.

I had mine replaced, only mine was quite old. The contractor said he would haul it off for me but there was little demand for old units; If yours is not but a year or two old you may get something back for it. But it may not be much. If they wont give you what you want, advertise it in the paper. Someone may want it and give you more.
