How long will it take to complete a small, bathroom remodel?

Question : How long will it take to complete a small, bathroom remodel?
Hi all,

I must preface this question with “we only have one bathroom”, so time is of the essense.

Here’s what we want done:
– New shower/tub insert
- New tile on floor and half way up walls (sorry – not sure what that’s called)
- Repair water damage (there’s a leak in tub area – it’s been going on for about 6 months)
- New cabinet (will order)
- Paint as needed (will keep current color)
- Replace fixtures
- Update plumbing (I think this will be limited)

Other than the water damage, I don’t think we’ll have to replace/remove any sheetrock. Also, we’re keeping the toilet (just replaced).

So, how long do you think this will take and is there any wisdom that you’d like to pass along. We’re open to all suggestions. We’ll be using a friend’s bathroom until all is done, but we want it done fast!

This remodel can be done in 12 working days minimum. The scheduling can be quicker if no sub contractors are involved.

If you have moderate skills and are doing the work yourself, I’d say 2 weeks. But then again, the remodeler’s rule of thumb is to add 50% extra time, and double the budgeted expense. As you get into your project, you’ll probably note that to be so very true…

if the water damage isn’t all that bad then a couple decent plumbers can have your old shower tore out, the leak fixed and the new shower set in one day. Once they set the cabinet(I’m assuming you mean the vanity/sink) and install the sink the rest is just finish work. Your bathroom will be in working order except for one day or evening when you’ll have to stay off the tile while they set up. You’ll still be able to use your bath in the evenings after the crews leave. The tile on the walls, minor sheetrock repairs,painting etc. can be done at your leisure.

If you’re doin it, plan on 30 days now & then.
do the temp toilet 1st then set the tub, its the biggest, do your surround and then prep your sink area.
run all your plumbing in copper before tearout and then temporally set all fixtures so at one days notice you can pick out the sink and toilet and do the floor then reset and do your paper and paint last. prime the wall behind the tiolet before you set it.
you get the drift, plan your moves and you can continue to use it throughout the renovation.

You can repair area around toilet but it makes it expensive due to excess supplies used.$ $ $ do you have a garage and make a temporary bath room pick up shower pre fab not to much $ 100.00 plus plumbing is hot water heater in garage. just think you could have a place too clean up after working on car/yard before going into home for years to come a big benefit. good selling point too. no garage who ever does the repair will not be fast enough for you and if they run into problems wont like you very much due to the bit@h!ng. I know its inconvenient other option portable toilet in back yard good luck. 6-`12 days

I did such a remodel job a few months ago and it took me and my crews 2 weeks to complete. Bathrrom was completely gutted and all new everthing, including drywall, was put back and completed.
