Holy crap…what a ridiculous amount of effort! Just hire a professional dryer vent company to use their pressurized air cleaning tools. I would never have been able to reach the outside vent myself which is only accessible from the garage roof. The procedure in this video would take hours! I paid $69 bucks and the professionals were done in 20 minutes!

From the wall in the laundry room to the exterior wall needs to be solid pipe. My last home had all vinyl pipe. I had to replace all that. I used flexible aluminum from the elbow on the dryer to the wall. From the wall in the laundry room to the crawl space, then to the exterior wall, I put in solid aluminum pipe. It still coated with lint, but not as much. The dryer worked less with the solid pipe. My current setup is all solid pipe: 2 elbows and the straight pipe attached to the vent.

Sounds like a training video from Northstar services. BTW they appear to be hiring and scamming people. they will contract you out locally and you get paid from the customer but you need to send half to the company. BUT you 1st need to purchace 290 dollars worth of their equiptment. Can’t use your own. WTF

My dryer vents about 15 feet through the attic and out the roof. It’s smooth metal venting; I use an electric leaf blower to blow out from the laundry room while someone is standing outside. They always say lots of lint comes flying out. I do this about every 4 months. I think this is one of those things not many people think about doing, unfortuately.

@greymilton It worked quite well for me. I mentioned about the vacuum feature of the electric leaf blower. The caveat here is that if your vent has a valve (to prevent entry of small animals inside) the vacuum might be counterproductive. I think the most simple is loosing lint inside with a bottle brush – like gadget with a long wire (available in hardware stores) and blowing it out with the electric leaf blower. Explain to your neighbors on what those ‘flying objects’ are ! LOL
