What’s the proper way to take a steam bath, for maximum weight loss?
Question : What’s the proper way to take a steam bath, for maximum weight loss?
I have been working out lots and recently added a steam bath after my workouts. It seems everyone has an idea of the “proper” way to use a steam bath. I’ve been told, stay in for 20 minutes then jump into a cold shower then return to the steam. Also, stay in 10 minutes max a day. Also, 10 minutes max then walk around in room temp then return to the steam. Does anyone really know? Thanks

Steam baths don’t help you lose weight. They make you sweat, but that is water loss which is replenished the next time you drink water.
Sweating by raising your heart rate for 30 minutes makes you lose weight.
The 10 min rule is due to the high heat can cause stress on your heart – especially if you are a new user.
If you have been going regular for a few months then to stay in for 20 mins is not going to be a problem.
There is no ‘correct’ way to do it, however you prefer is always the best. Personally I go for the cold shower or cold dip pool after getting out of the steam room, I find it invigorating – other people just find it to cold.
However, using a steam room will not really aid weight loss, so if this is why you are using it then you will not really see any results in that form. After working out it can help relax the muscles which can stop some of the effects of the ‘burn’ that you might feel in them the next day.
