can a thermostat be used to control the furnace fan for an outdoor wood boiler?
i replaced an old 2 wire thermostat controlling my gas furnace with a digital. what wires are used to use the fan on switch? what terminals are used at boh the thermostat and furnace? what wire color to what terminal? also, is it possible to add an auxiliary thermostat to independently operate the furnace fan to distribute heat from an installed outdoor wood boiler?
If this is a gas heater only, there are no wires for the fan. The fan on a gas furnace is controlled by the temperature inside the furnace. Since you only have two wires, they go to the red and white terminals. It doesn’t matter which ones because polarity is not a concern with this type of setup.
You would need a separate control circuit and thermostat to run the fan for the wood boiler. This would consist of a 24V transformer, a 24V relay switch and the thermostat.
