I am having such a hard time figuring out what vase height should I get. I will be having a stargazer lily, 4 roses and bear grass satin wrapped and put into a vase with clear and pink gems on the bottom. Any suggestions?

Who Picks Up the Tap on Your Wedding

Who is footing the bill for a wedding is generally a hot topic among brides, grooms and their parents.   While traditionally speaking the bride’s parents are to pay for the wedding, this is generally falling by the wayside as couples pay their own way. The wedding budget is something that simply must be worked out well before the wedding plans are underway.   In fact, those that are likely to be paying for the wedding, including the parents of the bride and groom, should sit down and have a frank discussion about what their expectations and abilities are.   The budget can be a direct amount or can be broken down line by line.   In either case, the goal is to provide the couple with guidelines to know just how much is expected to be paid by who throughout the course of the wedding. Once you set the date, set a date to talk money.   It is the most essential thing to do to insure that everyone is on the right track. Where etiquette is concerned, though, there are some guidelines that should be followed.   Yet, you may be surprised to find that the father of the bride is not the only person that is to be paying for the wedding.   In fact, it now includes the groom’s family and the couple themselves!Decisions, DecisionsOne of the first things that should be discussed is the overall style of the wedding.   Do the bride and the groom want a formal, lavish wedding?  If so, to what extreme do they want it to be?  If not, do the bride and groom want an informal wedding?  Again, to what extreme do they want to take this?  Determining the level of hopes that are there is essential to knowing how much will likely is spent. Also, as much as mom and dad want to, they should not force a style of wedding onto the couple, especially if they will not be footing the entire bill for it. The Break DownYou can still follow etiquette guidelines especially when the wedding budget is being broken down by those that are in it.   Here are some of the things that should be paid for and who should pay for them. The Bride’s FamilyHere are some of the things that the bride’s family should be paying for.   They have by far the most to pay for.   This should come from the parents of the bride or someone else that is sponsoring them. -    The wedding gown, the headpiece and the accessories for the bride to wear-    The bridesmaid’s bouquet-    Corsages for the grandmothers-    Flowers for the reception and the ceremony-    Arches for the altar-    Canopy, carpeting, kneeling benches, candelabras for the wedding ceremony-    All rented items for the wedding ceremony and the reception-    Invitations, announcements and the production of them-    Napkins, wedding programs and other printed items-    The fees for the church including the musician-    The reception hall fees-    Catering for the reception and any other professional services required during the reception-    Wedding photography, videos, and the music at the reception-    The wedding cake and the wedding favors-    Brunch or lunch for the wedding partyThe GroomThe groom traditionally pays his own way throughout the wedding.   This may be helped by the groom’s family more commonly today. -    Wedding ring for the bride-    Wedding gift for the bride-    Gifts for the ushers or groomsmen-    The bride’s bouquet-    The mother’s corsages-    Boutonnieres for the groom and the groomsmen-    The marriage license-    The fee for the official doing the wedding-    Limousine services-    Honeymoon arrangements-    All accessories for the groomsmenThe BrideThe bride too is supposed to handle some costs for the wedding.   -    The wedding ring for the groom-    The wedding gift for the groom-    Bridesmaids gifts-    Bridesmaids luncheonThe Groom’s FamilyThey help with the following needs-    Groom’s cake-    Rehearsal dinnerOther Important Elements-    Bachelor Party is held by the best man-    Bridesmaid’s gowns are paid for by the bridesmaids, including the maid of honor-    The groomsmen’s formal wear is paid for by the groomsmen including the best man and the fathers. -    Formal wear for the children in the wedding is provided by their parents

Carolyn Hax: Finance wedding yourselves
Dear Carolyn: My girlfriend and I just got engaged and now it’s time to start the wedding planning. What would you say is customary and appropriate as far as paying the bill these days? Should it be split evenly? Divided proportionally by guests? Is the bride’s family still expected to foot the majority of the bill? Thanks!

Choose colors for the Bridesmaid dresses

0

The most vital factor to consider when selecting bridesmaid dresses is color. Apart from picking a shade that you like, you will wish to opt one, which fits perfectly with the tone of the occasion: refined, casual, religious or elegant. You will also wish to choose a color, which compliments the bridesmaid. The beach weddings must take on sunny, bright colors like yellow, orange pr some cool colors such as green or blue. Pastel shades particularly light green, pink or peach are perfect for the garden ceremonies. Or else, you can also go for more earthy tones. The bridesmaid dresses ought to match the wedding theme and place well.  Here are few thoughts on selecting bridesmaid dresses color for your bridesmaid: Red: Red is a very bold color. It tends to work really well for the elegant evening weddings and can be toned if the dress boasts other colors or is shorter. For avoiding the effect of fire engine, select a shade that is a little muted. And for toning down the sexual connotation of the color, select a modest dress. Often, red looks best on women with brown or love skin and few a times make red heads and blonde-haired women look pale.             Pink: It signifies youthful and innocence femininity. It is a fine choice for an outdoor, springtime wedding, but may not be good for the older bridesmaid. An additional choice is the rum pink that is pretty and feminine without appearing too prom like. The prom look can be toned down via keeping the bridesmaid dress extremely simple without any puffy stuff or frilly bows.    Royal blue or navy blue: Navy blue or royal blue are slimming, sophisticated and look nice on most women, but do not have that mourning undertone. Blue or dark shades work well on the older bridesmaid. If you select royal blue, avoid picking too bright shade, since that screams poor 80’s prom dress. In case, when you choose navy then try to use dark tones otherwise the dress may clash with tuxes.  Hunter green and maroon: In addition with navy blue, hunter green and maroon are preppy, vivid and clean colors. They are dark as well as colorful devoid of being excessively overpowering. For some women green can be hard to pull off, particularly if you pick a brighter Kelly green. Purple: Purple is a very nice alternative than red. It is bold plus colorful. Like the bright red, purple can make the woman with whitish skin appear paler, but can compliment the yellowish skin colors. Select shades cautiously, as few can be quite tacky. Purple color dos not look nice on the heavier bridesmaid.    Pale green, orange, lavender or pale yellow: All of these pastel colors are excellent options to pink, which are not so girly. These colors typically work wonders for the daytime weddings in summer or spring and do not always look good in the older bridesmaid. Orange: The bridesmaid dresses in orange color are in vogue, particularly the subtle shades like coral and peach. Not anyone can easily pull orange, though particularly darker or brighter shades. The bright orange generally tends to appear good on the woman with dark skin complexion.     Make your wedding a perfect wedding through selecting a perfect color for your bridesmaid dress.

Bridesmaid equally like the bride dress plays a very vital role in enhancing the beauty of the occasion. Thus, the bridesmaid dresses must be picked wisely and according to the size, color and shape of the bridesmaid. Different kinds of dresses can be accessed at www. weddingretailer. com.

What are some good anniversary gifts for a guy?

2

My husband is kind of hard to buy for. We are thinking of taking a mini vacation to the beach but were not sure due to weather.
He is not a big sports fan, or concerts. We don’t have a ton of money for anything big.
I like making our anniversary special. We are very happy to be married to one another and the way life gets busy I try to make things special :)
Anyone have some ideas? I am open to suggestions.
Thank you!!

LDS members, What is with the cap Sleeves on Wedding Gowns?

1

I have spent all day looking at modest wedding gowns ( yes i am
lds )

And almost every single one has the same exact neckline with
cap sleeves. Cap sleeves are those perfectly square t-shirt sleeves.
I realize the need to cover up to a certain point but at least
try a new style! Like puffed sleeves or tulip sleeves, maybe
a slightly different bodice. I mean every single one looks like
a satin T-shirt attatched to a wedding gown skirt.

What the heck?

Wedding Rings – The Sorted History

0

The wedding ring is the final gift a couple will give each other prior to marriage. Some might say that the very first gift a couple gives each other is a promise ring – which most consider a pre-engagement ring. Then as a couple gets more serious they then give engagement rings to each other.
Many couples look forward to the moment when they’ll slip a ring on their beloved. The look of love in their eyes, that moment when the ring is on their finger and they realize that they are theirs forever. What most don’t realize is that these moments with wedding rings have been happening for centuries. The meaning and symbolism behind a wedding ring is rich and as intricate as its own love story. It deserves to be told so that couples know exactly why they use wedding rings.
This wedding ring is a symbol and throughout time this symbol has stood for love, devotion and at times simply for an arrangement between families. The physical structure of the wedding ring has changed and adapted as different cultures have fashioned it into different forms to make it look beautiful. Some materials are more plentiful in different areas – and other materials or precious metals are considered to be more valuable in other areas. But the meaning behind the symbol has remained the same throughout time and over continents. “I love you” “I want to be with you forever” and “You are mine. ”
A ring in its simplest forms is a circle: meaning ‘eternity. ‘ What more could every couple want than the pure desire to spend eternity together? Most couples choose to have a sentiment or romantic saying engraved inside their wedding rings. This makes that universal symbol so much more personal for each couple.
Symbols exist throughout our culture. Even the materials the wedding ring is made out of can be seen as symbols of love and devotion. Most wedding rings include diamonds. Diamonds are literally indestructible; they are the “forever” stone you want to select to represent your love. Rubies are another choice that represents love, passion and preciousness. While the wedding ring itself is seen as valuable – the symbolism of the wedding ring shows that your beloved is valuable to you. By giving them a valuable ring – you are showing the world just how valuable they are to you. In older days – you might also be protecting your ‘property’ (when women were considered property and possessions).
The wedding ring was worn in later times just as it is today, on the left hand, third finger. This is because of the strong-held belief that the vein in this finger travels directly from the heart. This belief was affirmed as women began wearing their wedding rings closer to their hand and then their engagement ring on that same hand – affirming this belief about this hand being so close to your heart.
Wedding rings have been worn in many traditions. While the traditions may be slightly different – the sentiment and meaning – to love, treasure and honor one another forever – remains very much the same. In Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Christians, rings are exchanged not at the wedding service – but at the betrothal. The groom’s ring is gold and the bride’s ring is silver. In Greece rings are exchanged by couples as they are engaged they are worn on the left hand, fourth finger – and at the wedding they are switched to the right hand. In England, a wedding ring has traditionally always been exchanged. This appears to come from the long-standing belief that marriages were made as arrangements to exchange not just love and honor – but goods or property as well. This belief holds true for most European countries.
During World War II and the Korean War it became popular for men to wear wedding rings. This reminded them of the wonderful wife they had waiting at home for them. After these wars, men began to wear wedding rings to show their faithfulness, devotion and love. Now most men wear wedding rings in many cultures around the world.
