Install a Fire Extinguisher

0

One evening I woke up to flames bursting out of my bed! Fortunately, it was early on and I was able to dowse water on the fire. That was a very close call and it showed me that at anytime an accident can create a fire. If I needed a more powerful and quick source to put out this fire, I would have been waiting for minutes. . . . for the local fire to arrive. . . not a great option.

Soon after I called a fire extinguisher installer, Jason, to help me prevent any fire if needed to protect my valuable assets. I was very impressed with the price for the service. He brought a professional grade fire extinguisher out and installed it with brackets on the wall for about $60. He explained the difference between the pro metal verses the plastic version and demonstrated how to use it fast and effectively.

Buy a professional metal fire extinguisher. It is far superior to a cheap plastic version. Don’t skimp on quality, plastic tanks diminish rapidly – do not last long. Have any tank checked or inspected regularly to ensure it is properly filled. Plastic tanks often leak or overcharge! Metal tanks need to be checked once a year and do not need maintenance for 6 years. Plastic tanks are not made for refilling. Metal tanks can be refilled at very reasonable cost. Jason offered to do a fire extinguisher inspection service check on my fire extinguisher every year for about $20 to ensure I had a full and functioning tank.

My mission is to inform everyone to be sure to do fire safety and maintenence so that you have a greater chance of preventing fires. Free your mind that you can empower yourself with fire prevention for relatively very little cost. Be sure to check the smoke alarms and clear debris from any hazardous areas. Choosing The Right Home Security Camera

0

Choosing the right home security video camera to suit your individual needs requires you to plan and access your specific requirements. You will need to consider what area you live in, is your home in a high traffic area and have constant exposure to strangers. Or do you live in a rural or secluded area where you may not have neighbors who can see your home, no matter what your living conditions most of us want to know that our homes are safe from crime.
It is necessary for home owners and business owners to take every precaution to protect their property and possessions. Security video camera technology has improved significantly with the rapid demand from consumers and the understanding of the benefits of security cameras. Whether you are at library, parking your car, walking into a shopping mall or visiting a friend in their home don’t be surprised if a security camera is keeping a watchful eye on you.
Trying to decide between Wireless Security Camera or Wired?
Wireless security cameras are appealing to the home owner because of the ease of set-up and the portability of the camera.
Here are some of the advantages with going wireless:
1. Easier setup. Less noticeable as you don’t have to hide the wiring.
2. More cost effective. A wired security camera has to be modified a precise environment which means you will need to run wires through walls. A wireless video security camera can sensibly be placed or moved anywhere you feel is best.
3. Less limitation on where you can place the wireless security camera. There is no need to be near a power source.
4. With a wireless video security camera, you can log into your computer from just about anywhere and view the interior of your home or office.
5. Easier to conceal wireless security models.
There are two basic types of wireless video security cameras available.
The first type comes as package that includes a transmitter and receiver with the advantage being that the cable usually used with a television camera is replaced by the transmitter and receiver with the camera aligned to the transmitter. The receiver then is connected to the recording and viewing object.
The second option operates like an IP camera and is assembled with a wireless network adaptor this allows the homeowner to monitor your home from anywhere in the world via the internet.
Additional benefit of a wireless video security camera is there portable capabilities. Being able to move them around to meet your specific needs makes wireless video security cameras more reasonable. Determine what specific task you want your camera to do before making any final decisions. Keep in mind that paying a little bit more for the best technology is worth in the long run.

How much for a good home security system?

4

What do I need for a basic home security system.

I don’t want anything elaborate as I live in a “safe” area.

I want something like a remote operated button that my elderly mom can push in an event someone breaks in. A loud alarm that will go off both inside and outside to “scare” any robbers and alert her neighbors.

I am looking for internet site to reach out to homeowners to set up home partys to sell security systems. ?

Gas Fireplace Logs Which Produce Clean, Smokeless Flames

0

An increasing number of people today want to enjoy the warmth and ambience of a natural wood fire without all the hassles of chopping up wood and clearing up afterwards. This has lead to many innovations such as the convenient gas and electric fireplaces. In the case of gas fireplaces, it has also lead to the introduction of gas fireplace logs.

Gas fireplace logs can be used in any wood burning fireplace. However a chimney or adequate ventilation is essential for the safety of the home owner’s health due to the gas they emit when in use. Gas fireplace logs use natural gas or propane and can be obtained as vented logs, unvented logs and partially vented logs.

Vented logs are the most popular type of gas fireplace logs that are currently being used in the country. Introduced over two decades ago, these realistic logs were designed to replace the natural wood and logs that are normally used as fuel in fires.

Vented logs are available in a variety of ‘looks’ including birch, oak and hazel. They are fairly lightweight and come in varying sizes, from the standard 12” to the large 60” logs. However, vented logs provide the least heat of the three types of logs.

Unvented logs, which are the second most popular type of gas fireplace logs, are also known as ventless and ventfree logs. Unlike vented logs, unvented logs do not affect the quality of the air you breathe as the technology used in their construction and use is very similar to the technology used in kitchen gas cookers which produce clean, smokeless flames.

Though less realistic in appearance than the vented variety, unvented logs are much more economical and cost roughly between 6 and 50 cents an hour, depending on the type of gas being used. However, these gas fireplace logs should only be used in areas with no space issues due to the amount of oxygen they use up.

Partially vented logs are the third type of artificial fireplace logs in the market. They are not the most efficient source of heat or the most attractive of gas fireplace logs. However, although they don’t lean heavily towards providing either of these qualities, they have a sufficient enough quantity of both beauty and heat generation to make them a viable option for home fireplaces.

A small tip for budding and self taught electricians. Do not attempt the installation of gas fireplaces or logs by yourself. The problems sparked off by the helpful home handymen are many, varied and can often be avoided if left to professionals. This sound bit of common sense, can of course be ignored.

I bought a Ventless gas logs set with burner and remote on Ebay, when I recieved it the logs were broken into pieces due to the fact that the person did not pack it properly ( I am trying to get a refund), Can i use the logs (just the logs not the burner) from the vented gas logs I had in my fireplace with the new Ventless burner i bought??

The directions that came with my fireplace say it must be used with the doors open or shut. ?

The fireplace has glass doors that do not seal it completely. Can I burn would with the doors shut? The directions only say to use it with the doors completely open or completely shut. Partially shutting the doors may cause flames to escape the fireplace. I would like to shut the doors while the fire is burning at night. Any help will be appreciated. This is my first experience using a fireplace.
