Install a Fire Extinguisher
One evening I woke up to flames bursting out of my bed! Fortunately, it was early on and I was able to dowse water on the fire. That was a very close call and it showed me that at anytime an accident can create a fire. If I needed a more powerful and quick source to put out this fire, I would have been waiting for minutes. . . . for the local fire to arrive. . . not a great option.
Soon after I called a fire extinguisher installer, Jason, to help me prevent any fire if needed to protect my valuable assets. I was very impressed with the price for the service. He brought a professional grade fire extinguisher out and installed it with brackets on the wall for about $60. He explained the difference between the pro metal verses the plastic version and demonstrated how to use it fast and effectively.
Buy a professional metal fire extinguisher. It is far superior to a cheap plastic version. Don’t skimp on quality, plastic tanks diminish rapidly – do not last long. Have any tank checked or inspected regularly to ensure it is properly filled. Plastic tanks often leak or overcharge! Metal tanks need to be checked once a year and do not need maintenance for 6 years. Plastic tanks are not made for refilling. Metal tanks can be refilled at very reasonable cost. Jason offered to do a fire extinguisher inspection service check on my fire extinguisher every year for about $20 to ensure I had a full and functioning tank.
