Metal tanks need to be checked once a year and do not need maintenance for 6 years. Plastic tanks are not made for refilling. Metal tanks can be refilled at very reasonable cost. Jason offered to do a fire extinguisher inspection service check on my fire extinguisher every year for about $20 to ensure I had a full and functioning tank.
