How do YOU removal wallpaper?

I am currently in the process of removing wallpaper that has been stuck on the wall for about 10 years. As you cann imagine, it’s a buggar to take off.

I’ve got my knife, water and scraper but it is taking FOREVER!!

Anyone have any tricks??

Wall paper steamer is the easiest way. Renting one is fairly inexpensive and cuts the job down by at least half.

i use the corner of the scraper to carve lines in the paper, then soak with water

alternatively i use a steamer

Try some diluted vinegar. Works for me almost every time. I am a painter and I deal with it from time to time. Let it soak for a few minutes and try to scrape it. If it doesn’t work spray it down again, be generous with it. Should come off easy!

how long are u letting the water sit on for? when i helped my mom take hers off, we just soaked the paper with water and let it sit for a couple min. we REALLY soaked it tho. and then it peeled off really easy. just get a wash cloth or sponge and put as much water as u can on there

Use steam. Whether with the steam function on a clothes iron – or the machine you can rent. Just apply steam for a few minutes, and rip it off.

The steam will cause the wallpaper glue to liquidize and allow for easy removal of the all paper.

well, what works for me, is to get a spray called “dif” then spray it on the spot were you need to get wallpaper off.

I work at a home centers store, and we sell a product specifically designed for taking wall paper off of walls. It’s called DIF. Also, you can try a mixture of warm water and vinegar. I think the ratio is 50% water to 50% vinegar.

Try spraying vinegar on it Make sure it saturates the paper really well. It takes off everything stuck on windows.

go to hardware store and get a paper tiger- it is a little handheld thing that has serrated rollers in it- not expensive at all. roll it over the paper and it makes little perforations in the paper- next mix hot water and vinegar in a spray bottle and spray on the paper- the mixture will soak in and the paper should come off very easily as should the remaining wallpaper glue that has crusted on the wall. the spray also helps if you just want to wet the paper down pretty well and then pick a corner and peel it off
