How do I easily find out if my wood flooring is worth being refinished?
My house was built in 1950 and is said to have wood flooring throughout the house, underneath the carpet. I want to find out what shape the wood floor is in, but I don’t want to just rip up all the carpet just in case it’s not going to be worth it. I’m not sure about the best way to this find this out. Do I just pull up a corner of the carpet? And even then, I’m not sure what to look for. Please help!
You are going to have to make a decision to look or not look. You cannot make a claim on the whole floor from the corner. Call for a few estimates from floor guys in the neighborhood, and they will tell you what needs to be done as well.
