The system is more decorative then the direct venting system but is also less expensive.
The gas fireplaces direct vent is one of the most efficient systems of the gas fireplaces on the market today. The coaxial vent is what makes this system the most efficient. This is really a pipe within a pipe. The larger or the outer pipe draws in the fresh air while the smaller or inner pipe will remove the used air. The air being removed is heated and will heat the new air as it is drawn in. The direct vent pipe can be ran two different ways. Either horizontally through the wall or vertically through the roof.
