Always treat stains as quickly as possible. They not be 100 percent removed the first time around, but repeated applications will at least lighten them.
Clean linens before storing in a cool, dry place.
Polyester reacts to stains differently than natural fibers, therefore, these solutions are not suitable for polyester.
For coffee or tea stains, rub glycerin on with your hands and agitate fabric by rubbing together. Soak in a bowl of boiling water and stir with a wooden spoon.
Remove grease stains by sprinkling them with talcum powder and spreading that around with your fingers. Blot with an absorbent cloth. Repeat as necessary. Wash.
*To remove mildew stains, soak affected areas in a solution of half hydrogen peroxide, half water. Wash. Repeat if necessary.*
Soak fruit juice stains in ice water, then wash.
For scorch marks, cut a white onion in half, then rub the flat side of onion on it. It really works!
Combat rust stains by making a paste of salt and lemon juice, starting with some salt and adding lemon juice until you have a nice, gloppy paste. Rub onto stains and let sit. Repeat as necessary. Wash.
