What is to hang the right height for pendant lights?

The distance to the light hanging from a table is 36 inches above the table surface. Is there a correct distance for pendant lights from the top of a counter top level hanging bar?

hang them high enough so the tallest person in your house is not constantly walking into them

There is no Code requirement for this, other than to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Find a height that they look good to you at, and that will not tempt people to play with them as they sit there, or bump their heads on them when leaning over the counter.
