hunter ceiling fans makes a knocking sound. no cracked blades. not out of balance. ?
box is secure 2×4 added as brace by electrician. sounds more like the shaft moving up and down.
fan is new less than a month old. it is a hunter low profile lll 42 inch . already tried all of what has been suggested.

Grab hold of the fan bottom when it’s making the noise,and hold it firmly.If the noise stops,you know something is loose and can be tightened.Also with the fan off manually spin the blades,look and listen.Check for the blade irons bumping into another part of the fan.If the blade move up and down easily,it may have a rubber flywheel,that has sagged,slipped or worn out. If you find nothing using the above,a bad bearing is a possibility.If it’s an older Hunter Original,it may require oil.on top of the fan near the center,a possibly capped hole,for adding oil may be found.Check for model number on fan,then website for manual.
