How cold is a refrigerator supposed to be?

The refrigerator is brand new and maintains a temp of aroung 54 degrees. Is this right, because the food and drinks don’t seem cold enough?

No, it is 40 degrees F. I think that meat and dairy need to be close to freezing (32 degrees F), to maintain the freshness and keep the meat from getting spoiled.

Check the manual and see how to turn the temp. down colder. If it isn’t working, you need to call the manufacturer or place that you bought the fridge.

No, 54 is much too warm. It should be kept at 41 degrees or lower (of course, 32 would be freezing.)
There should be dials where you can adjust this.

Most egg boxes are stamped to store at 40 or below. This is the same temp that milk and cheese need also.

You’ll be asking for food spoliage if you don’t set the temperature below 40 degrees (bacteria grow at temperatures above 40 degrees).

I’m not sure of the exact temp, but if I were you I would try turning it down to about 46 degrees to see if that helped, make sure you give your drinks time to change temp before you check them though. I’d say wait at least an hour.
