Two original Hunter 2-speed fans from around 1980

This house was built in 1980, this five Hunter ceiling fans. They are working very well. The light kits vibrates a little, but the fans keep me cool on the hottest days.

thay are good fans i have originals in every room of my house even on the back porch.

I think a Hunter Original Schoolhouse Globe or a sphere light kit looks the best! Otherwise, I have seen Hunter Originals with the Hunter spotlight kits on them at a Holiday Inn and they looked pretty good on a Hunter Original fan. They were one of the mid 80s or 1990s Originals. To me, tulip shades are for Victorian style fans or lights, and the Hunter Originals are not Victorian style fans!

I agree with you, I like them with no light, but if they must have a light my first choice is a ball or big schoolhouse globe, then a four light kit with tulip shades. This turtle fitter is not right for an Original and makes the shades look ugly.

Actaully the light kit that looks the best on the Hunter Original fans are the Hunter Original Schoolhouse Globe light kits.

I agree. I prefer them to not have a light kit at all, but I don’t own these fans. They are in my Grandparents house. There is one with no light kit upstairs, and it’s my favorite. The other 2 upstairs have the same light kit :/

IMO, the tulip glass shades are ugly! They just don’t look good on a Hunter Original!

There is a specific one that really works well, I don’t recall what it was. I’ve heard Zoom Spout Oiler works well (I use it in mine) if it’s available in your area. You can always just get the tubes of Hunter oil if in doubt.

Nah, I wouldn’t ever use 3 in 1 on them, or wd-40! I’ll get some non-detergent motor oil. Any particular oil that seems to work better?

Yeah, you’re supposed to check the oil yearly if not more. You know what kind of oil to use? Whatever you do, don’t use 3in1.

Thanks. I’ll see if I can get a video of the others next time I’m visiting my Grandparents. Oh yes, oiling is on my list of chores on my next visit. I watched my Grandfather oil the Hunter fans many times when I was a kid! These are probably overdue an oiling.

I love the first one with cane blades! And the second one is beautiful as well. They run flawlessly! I do take it you know that the fans need to be oiled, in that hole on the top of them that was visible in the video for the white one.
